YEHOWAH – JESUS

I have to be perfectly honest with you and tell you that this is perhaps the most difficult page I have written in relationship to The Exalted Name Bible™. The difficulty of the subject matter cannot deter this project though, because the end results are simply too significant… What is important to note, however, is that as I was investigating and scribing the Words of the Old Covenant, I discovered that the Words of the New Covenant had issues as well, and here too, The Exalted Name Bible™ strives to eliminate those issues.

The primary concern with the New Covenant rests on the simple fact that there is no “J” or “J” sound in either the Hebrew or the Greek languages. This becomes a significant matter, therefore, when we realize that the name, “Jesus” cannot be His Hebrew name, which also means that “Jesus” cannot be the Greek equivalent to that name.  Simply put, the name, “Jesus” cannot be the name HE revealed to us as He walked among us… And if it is NOT His Hebrew name, and if it is not the name that He used when He walked among us, then where did the name Jesus come from, why are we using it today, and what is the real name of the Messiah that we should be using today?

I am going to attempt to answer these questions using two New Testament passages. In my heart, I find the urgency of the matter clearly outlined in these verses, because they very quickly point to incredibly obvious and significant truths. The first passage is Acts 4:12, which says,

“Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among mankind, whereby we must be saved.” (ENB)

The second passage is also from Acts, and it is found in chapter 9, verses 1-6, and here we read,

“Now Paul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Master, went to the high priest, and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. And it came to pass that as he journeyed, he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him; and he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Paul, Paul, why are you persecuting me?” And he said, “Who art Thou, Master?” And He said, “I am _________ whom you are persecuting, but rise, and enter the city, and it shall be told you what you must do.” (ENB)

Whenever I read or consider Acts 9:1-6, which is frequent, I am forced to ask, “What was the NAME You gave him, Master?” If you have read my “About the Author” page, you already know how important it is to me to pronounce names properly, and in that knowledge you can understand how this passage might impact me. I wanted to hear exactly what Paul heard that day, so that I could repeat it properly, and announce it without error. And you must believe that I have prayed fervently about this matter, because as Acts 4:12 says, “There is no other name under heaven given among mankind, whereby we must be saved.” I have prayed to hear His voice pronounce His name, and I have prayed that His Holy Spirit would write His name on my wall, so that I could see exactly what we need to see.

In answering my prayers regarding the Exalted Name of the Old Covenant, I found tremendous relief, joy and satisfaction. But I was still left wondering exactly what Name Paul heard on the road to Damascus that day. Because, that is the name we should be using today! Because, that is the name, “By which we must be saved.”

A simple “Google” search on the name, Jesus, provides us with the fact that this name is a 12th century transliteration of the Greek word, iesus, which is a very poor rendition of the Hebrew Yeshuah. Iesus, as we know, is a Greek god (el), and for any number of reasons, but especially because of the Third Commandment, where we are commanded to invoke His Name, I find it difficult to imagine His name being derived from some Greek god!

Furthermore, the Exalted Name is not present in this transliteration, which really does make the rendering insufficient. (And you must know two things right now: First, what I just said about the rendering being insufficient – is very difficult for me to write! Second, that I did more labor on this than a simple “Google” search)…

Additionally, we already know that when the Messiah walked among us, the name He used, and the teachings He presented, so stunned the Jewish Priesthood, that they HATED HIM! Aside from the fact that He was offering some very profound messages, have you ever really wondered exactly why they hated Him as they did? And why they still refuse to accept Him as the Messiah?

For the longest time, even knowing The Exalted Name of the Old Covenant, I was thwarted in comprehending the exact spelling and pronunciation of the name used by Messiah when He walked among us. I looked at the Hebrew again and again, and considered the notion that He must have used some name similar to Joshua, or some abbreviated form of that name. Joshua, in the Hebrew, is pronounced YEHOSHUWAH, which technically means: YEHOWAH SAVES! Tradition, if nothing else, holds that this ‘must be true’…

But here’s the problem: I could attach another book to this introduction, in an attempt to explain what I now know to be His TRUE New Covenant Name, but no matter which Name is finally presented to you, we will NOT find that name used anywhere in the original writings available to us today. This is true! I believe the writings exist, which could prove what I am about to present to you, but we will never be permitted to see those writings in our lifetime!

Therefore, I am going to use Scripture to prove His name to you, for by His own utterances He will confirm for us the name that He used… While dozens of passages can be quoted for this, I am limiting this presentation to six each from the Old Covenant and the New Covenant; twelve passages, all saying the same thing.

First, from the Old Covenant, He has told us:

“Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘YEHOWAH, the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob, has sent Me to you, and this is My name forever, and this is My memorial unto all generations” (Exodus 3:15ENB).

“I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as El Shadday, and by My name, YEHOWAH, I made Myself known to them” (Exodus 6:3ENB).

“Truly, for this very reason I have raised you up; in order to show you My power, and in order that My name may be declared throughout all the earth” (Exodus 9:16ENB).

“An altar of earth you shall make unto Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you” (Exodus 20:24ENB).

“O YEHOWAH, our Master, how mighty is Your name in all the earth” (Psalm. 8:9ENB)!

“His name shall endure forever. His name shall continue as long as the sun, and in Him shall the people be blessed; all the nations will call Him blessed. Blessed be YEHOWAH Elohim, the Elohim of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. And blessed be His glorious name forever; and may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen. The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended” (Psalm 72:17-20ENB).

And when He walked among us, in the New Covenant, He said,

“I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him” (John 5:43ENB).

“I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s name, these bear witness of Me” (John 10:25ENB).

“Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, even as You gave Him authority over all mankind, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true EL, and _______ whom You have sent. I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work that You have given Me to do. And now, glorify Thou Me together with Yourself, Father, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.  I manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; Yours they were, and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them, and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You did send Me. I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. And I am no more in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You.  Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one, even as We are. While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them, and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled” (John 17:1-12ENB).

“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore also Elohim highly exalted Him, and bestowed upon Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of _____ every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that _____ _____ is Master, to the glory of EL the Father” (Philippians 2:8-11ENB).

“For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying, ‘I will proclaim Your Name to My brethren, In the midst of the congregation I will sing Your Praise’” (Hebrews 2:11-12ENB).

Finally, in His last visit with us, on the Island of Patmos, He said a most unusual thing. And what He said is only fully comprehensible when we grasp the fullness of The Exalted Name. He said,

“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My EL, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write upon him the name of My EL, and the name of the city of My EL, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My EL, and My new name” (Revelation 3:12ENB).  Why is our Messiah to be given a “New Name”? Simply, because He came in His Father’s Name, and we do not know His Personal Name – YET!

While He walked among us He repeatedly said that He came in the Father’s name. He always came in the Father’s name.  From Genesis to Revelation He came in the Father’s name! The priests of His day and age HATED HIM, because He came in a name that was supposed to be secret; it was supposed to be hidden and unknown except to the select few.

Of Him it is written,

“And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers. And when they saw Him, they were astonished”  (Luke 2:47-48ENB).

“And it came to pass that when _____ finished these parables, He departed from there. And coming to His home town He taught them in their synagogue, so that they became astonished, and said, ‘Where did this man get this wisdom and miraculous powers? Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things? And they took offense at Him’” (Matthew 13: 53-57ENB).

He was hated (and questioned) by the Jews of His day, because He came in a name wholly and fully representative of His Father’s name. And in light of this truth, the only possible Hebrew name that would identify The Messiah is YEHOWAH, and it is THAT name which will be used throughout the New Covenant version of The Exalted Name Bible™.

Furthermore, under the Tab entitled, “The Exalted Name”, I have entered the following in regard to the manner in which the Father’s Name is going to be used throughout the New Covenant. Under the Exalted Name tab, I said, “What must be understood here though, as we discuss the only Exalted Name used throughout the Old Covenant, and how that Name was systematically eliminated from the ancient Hebrew writings, is the fact that we must also recognize that those same names and phrases were changed going into the New Covenant era. The phrase, “Lord God, Almighty”, for instance, as used frequently within the Book of Revelation, is a clear carryover, when the Father is the reference. Therefore, within the New Covenant, whenever we KNOW with certainty that the Father is discussed, His Exalted Name will always be used.”

As stated earlier, we will never find Scriptural references which can absolutely prove the correctness of the Messiah’s name. The Hebrew language, as well as our Master’s own words, however, dictate that He came in His Father’s Name, which is the ONLY Name revealed throughout the whole of Scripture; the Name of YEHOWAH! Therefore, throughout The Exalted Name Bible™, we will use That Name, and only That Name…

I wholeheartedly pray that as you begin to embrace the Messiah’s Exalted Name, that you will discover the fullness of His Power, Majesty and Might that is contained within That Name. May YEHOWAH be glorified through His Son, and may our deliverance be confirmed through the annointing of His Holy Spirit as we boldly proclaim His Name.

In His peace, love and joy, I remain faithfully and humbly your servant through YEHOWAH ha Mashiach,

Larry
