DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 1

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 1

These are the words that Moses spoke to all Israel on this side of the Jordan, in the wilderness, in the plain opposite to Suph, between Paran and Tophel and Laban and Hazeroth and Dizahab.
2 There are eleven days’ from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea.
3 And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first of the month, Moses spoke to the children of Israel, according to all that YEHOWAH had commanded him to give to them,
4 after he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, who dwelled in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, who dwelled in Ashtaroth and Edrei.
5 On this side of the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses undertook to declare this law, saying,
6 “YEHOWAH our Elohim spoke to us at Horeb, saying, ‘You have dwelled long enough at this mountain.
7 Turn and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites, and to the neighboring places in the plain, in the hill country, in the lowland, in the south country and by the seacoast; the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.
8 Behold, I have placed the land before you; go in and possess the land that YEHOWAH swore to give to your fathers; to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to them and their seed after them.’
9 And I spoke to you at that time, saying, ‘I am not able to bear you alone.
10 YEHOWAH your Elohim has multiplied you, and behold, you are this day like the stars of heaven in number.
11 May YEHOWAH, the Elohim of your fathers, increase you a thousand-fold more than you are and bless you, just as He has promised you!
12 How can I alone bear the load and burden of you and your strife?
13 Bring wise and understanding and knowledgeable men from your tribes, and I will appoint them as your heads.’
14 And you answered me and said, ‘The thing that you have said to do is good.’
15 So I took the heads of your tribes; wise and knowledgeable men, and appointed them heads over you, captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens, and officers for your tribes.
16 And I charged your judges at that time, saying, ‘Hear between your brethren, and judge righteously between everyone and their countryman, or the stranger who is with you.
17 You shall not respect persons in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not fear anyone, for the judgment is Elohim’s.  And the matter that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.’
18 And I commanded you at that time all the things that you should do.
19 And we journeyed forth from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness that you saw on the way to the hill country of the Amorites, just as YEHOWAH our Elohim had commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
20 And I said to you, ‘You have come to the hill country of the Amorites that YEHOWAH our Elohim has given to us.
21 Behold, YEHOWAH your Elohim has set the land before you; go up, take possession as YEHOWAH, the Elohim of your fathers, has spoken to you.  Do not fear or be discouraged.’
22 And you came near to me, all of you, and said, ‘Let us send men before us, that they may search out the land for us, and bring us word again by what way we should go, and the cities that we shall enter.’
23 And the matter was pleasing in my sight, and I took twelve of your men, one man for each tribe.
24 And they turned and went up into the mountains, and came to the valley of Eshcol and searched it out.
25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us; and they brought us back a report and said, ‘It is a good land that YEHOWAH our Elohim has given us.’
26 But you were not willing to go up, but rebelled against the command of YEHOWAH your Elohim;
27 and you murmured in your tents and said, ‘Because YEHOWAH hates us, He has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us.
28 Where can we go up? Our brethren have made our hearts melt, saying, “The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified to heaven.  And moreover, we saw the sons of the Anakim there.”‘
29 Then I said to you, ‘Dread not, nor fear them;
30 YEHOWAH your Elohim Who goes before you, He will fight on your behalf, just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes,
31 and in the wilderness where you have seen how YEHOWAH your Elohim has carried you, just as a man carries his son; in all the way that you have walked, until you came to this place.’
32 But in all these things you did not trust YEHOWAH your Elohim,
33 Who went on the way before you, to search out a place for your encampments; in fire by night and in cloud by day, to show you the way in which you should go.
34 And YEHOWAH heard the sound of your words, and He was angry and took an oath, saying,
35 ‘Surely there shall be not one of these men, of this evil generation, see the good land that I swore to give your fathers,
36 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he has trod upon; and to his children, because he has followed YEHOWAH fully.’
37 And YEHOWAH was angry with me also on your account, saying, ‘Not even you shall enter there.
38 Yehshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall enter there; encourage him, for he will cause Israel to inherit it.
39 And your little ones, of whom you said would become a prey, and your children, who this day have no knowledge of good or evil, shall enter there, and I will give it to them and they will possess it.
40 But you, turn around and journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.’
41 And you answered and said to me, ‘We have sinned against YEHOWAH; we will indeed go up and fight, just as YEHOWAH our Elohim commanded us.’  And when you had girded on every man his weapons of war, and were ready to go up into the hill country,
42 YEHOWAH said to me, ‘Say to them, “Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; otherwise you will be defeated before your enemies.”‘
43 So I spoke to you, but you would not hear. Instead you rebelled against the command of YEHOWAH, and went presumptuously up into the hill country.
44 And the Amorite who dwelt in that hill country came out against you and chased you, as bees do, and crushed you from Seir to Hormah.
45 And you returned and wept before YEHOWAH, but YEHOWAH did not listen to your voice nor give ear to you.
46 So you dwelled in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you dwelled there.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 2

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 2

Then we journeyed forth into the wilderness, by the way to the Red Sea, as YEHOWAH spoke to me, and circled Mount Seir for many days.
2 And YEHOWAH spoke to me, saying,
3 ‘You have gone around this mountain long enough.  Turn northward,
4 and command the people, saying, “You are to pass through the territory of your brothers, the sons of Esau who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you, and you shall be very guarded;
5 contend not with them, for I will not give you any of their land, even as little as a foot-breadth, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.
6 You shall buy food from them with money so that you may eat, and you shall purchase water from them with money so that you may drink.
7 For YEHOWAH your Elohim has blessed you in all the work of your hand, and He has known your walking through this great wilderness.  These forty years YEHOWAH your Elohim has been with you; you have lacked nothing.”‘
8 And we passed by beyond our brothers, the sons of Esau, who dwell in Seir; through the way of the plain from Elath and from Ezion-geber, and we turned and passed through by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 And YEHOWAH said to me, ‘Do not distress the Moabites, nor contend with them in battle, for I will not give you any of their land as a possession, for I have given Ar to the children of Lot as a possession.
10 The Emim dwelled there formerly; a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim.
11 They were also reckoned as giants, like the Anakim, but the Moabites call them Emim.
12 And the Horites dwelt in Seir in times past, but the children of Esau dispossessed them and destroyed them from before them and dwelt in their place, as Israel did to the land of their possession, that YEHOWAH gave to them.
13 Now rise up and cross over the brook Zered.’  So we crossed over the brook Zered.
14 And the days it took for us to come from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed over the brook Zered, was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, as YEHOWAH had sworn to them.
15 For indeed, the hand of YEHOWAH was against them, to destroy them from within the camp, until they all perished.
16 And it came to pass, when all the men of war had perished from among the people,
17 that YEHOWAH spoke to me, saying,
18 ‘You are to pass this day over the border of Moab, to Ar,
19 and when you come near the children of Ammon, do not distress them or contend with them, for I will not give you of the land of the children of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the children of Lot as a possession.’
20 That also is reckoned as a land of giants, for giants formerly dwelt in it, but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim;
21 a people as great, and many, and tall as the Anakim, but YEHOWAH destroyed them before them.  And they dispossessed them and dwelt in their place,
22 just as He did for the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, when He destroyed the Horites from before them; and they dispossessed them and dwell in their place even to this day.
23 And the Avvim, who dwelled in villages as far as Azzah, the Caphtorim who came from Caphtor, destroyed them and dwelled in their place.
24 Rise up, journey forth, and pass through the valley of Arnon.  Behold, I have given into your hand this day, Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land; begin to possess, and contend with him in battle.
25 This day will I begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the peoples under the whole of heaven, who will hear the report of you, and will tremble, and be in anguish because of you.’
26 And I sent messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
27 ‘Let me pass through your land, I will go along by the highway; I will not turn aside to the right or to the left.
28 You shall sell me food for money, so I may eat, and give me water for money, that I may drink, only let me pass through on foot;
29 just as the sons of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar did for me, until I cross over the Jordan into the land that YEHOWAH our Elohim is giving to us.’
30 But Sihon king of Heshbon was not willing for us to pass through his land; for YEHOWAH your Elohim hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that He might deliver him into your hand, as it is this day.
31 And YEHOWAH said to me, ‘Behold, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his land over to you. Begin to possess, that you may inherit his land.’
32 And Sihon came out with all his people, to meet us in battle at Jahaz.
33 And YEHOWAH our Elohim delivered him over to us, and we struck him, with his sons and all his people.
34 And we took all his cities at that time and utterly destroyed the men, women and children of every city; we let none remain.
35 Only the cattle we took as our booty and the spoil from the cities that we had captured.
36 From Aroer, which is on the bank of the river Arnon, and from the city which is in the valley, even to Gilead, there was not one city that was too strong for us; YEHOWAH our Elohim delivered all over to us.
37 Only you did not go near to the land of the children of Ammon along the river Jabbok, or the cities in the mountains, and wherever YEHOWAH our Elohim had commanded us.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 3

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 3

And we turned and went up the road to Bashan, and Og, king of Bashan, with all his people came out to meet us in battle at Edrei.
2 And YEHOWAH said to me, ‘Fear him not, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand; and you shall do unto him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.’
3 And YEHOWAH our Elohim delivered into our hands, Og, king of Bashan, with all his people, and we smote them until none was left to him remaining.
4 And we captured all his cities at that time; there was not a city that we did not take from them: Sixty cities; all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
5 All these cities were fortified, with high walls, gates and bars, besides a great number of unwalled cities.
6 And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women and children of every city.
7 But all the animals and the spoil of the cities we took as booty for ourselves.
8 And we took at that time the land out of the hands of the two kings of the Amorites, who were on this side of the Jordan; from the valley of Arnon to Mount Hermon:
9 and the Sidonians call Hermon, Sirion; and the Amorites call it Senir:
10 all the cities of the plain and all Gilead and all Bashan, as far as Salcah and Edrei; cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
11 For only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the giants.  Behold, his bedstead was an iron bedstead; is it not in Rabbah of the children of Ammon? Its length was nine cubits and its width four cubits by ordinary cubit.
12 And this land we took in possession at that time: From Aroer, which is by the valley of Arnon; and half the hill country of Gilead and its cities I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
13 The rest of Gilead and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which is called the land of giants.
14 Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called it, that is, Bashan, after his own name, Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.
15 And to Machir I gave Gilead.
16 To the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave from Gilead even as far as the bank of the Arnon; the middle of the valley as a border and as far as the river Jabbok, the border of the sons of Ammon;
17 the plain also, with the Jordan as a border, from Chinnereth even as far as the sea of the plain; the Salt Sea, at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah on the east.
18 And I commanded you at that time, saying, ‘YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you this land to possess; you shall cross over armed before your brethren, the children of Israel, all your valiant men,
19 but your wives and your little ones and your livestock (I know that you have much livestock) shall remain in your cities that I have given you,
20 until YEHOWAH has given rest to your brethren as to you, and they also possess the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim will give them beyond the Jordan.  Then you may return every man to his possession that I have given you.’
21 And I commanded Yehshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen all that YEHOWAH your Elohim has done to these two kings; so YEHOWAH shall do to all the kingdoms into which you are about to cross.
22 You shall not fear them, for YEHOWAH your Elohim; He shall fight for you.’
23 And I pleaded with YEHOWAH at that time, saying,
24 ‘O Adonay YEHOWAH, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand; for what el is there in heaven or on earth who can do according to Your works and according to Your might?
25 Please let me cross over and see the fair land that is beyond the Jordan; that good hill country and Lebanon.’
26 But YEHOWAH was angry with me on your account, and would not hear me; and YEHOWAH said to me, ‘That is enough! Speak to Me no more of this matter.
27 Ascend to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes to the west and north and south and east, and see with your eyes, for you shall not cross over this Jordan.
28 But charge Yehshua and encourage him and strengthen him, for he will go over before this people, and he will give them as an inheritance the land that you will see.’
29 And so we dwelled in the valley opposite Beth-peor.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 4

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 4

And now, O Israel, hear the statutes and the judgments that I am teaching you to do, so that you may live and go in and possess the land that YEHOWAH, the Elohim of your fathers, has given you.
2 You shall not add to the word that I am commanding you, nor shall you diminish it, that you may keep the commandments of YEHOWAH your Elohim that I command you.
3 Your eyes have seen what YEHOWAH has done in the case of Baal-peor, for all the men who followed Baal-peor, YEHOWAH your Elohim has destroyed them from among you.
4 But you who cleaved unto YEHOWAH your Elohim are alive, every one of you this day.
5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments as YEHOWAH my Elohim commanded me, that you should do so in the land where you are entering to possess it.
6 Keep therefore and do, for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’
7 For what great nation is there that has Elohim so near to it as is YEHOWAH our Elohim, in all we call upon Him?
8 Or what great nation is there that has righteous statutes and judgments as this whole law that I am setting before you today?
9 Only take heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, unless you forget the things that your eyes have seen; and unless they depart from your heart all the days of your life.  But make them known to your children and your grandchildren;
10 as in the day you stood before YEHOWAH your Elohim at Horeb, when YEHOWAH said to me, ‘Assemble the people to Me, that I may let them hear My words, so they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.’
11 And you came near and stood at the bottom of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the very heart of heaven: darkness, clouds and gloom.
12 And YEHOWAH spoke to you from the midst of the fire.  You heard the voice and the words, but you saw no form; only a voice.
13 And He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform; that is, the Ten Commandments, and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.
14 And YEHOWAH commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it.
15 Take great heed to your souls, therefore, for you saw no form on the day YEHOWAH spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire,
16 so that you do not corrupt yourselves and make a graven image in the form of any figure; the likeness of male or female;
17 the likeness of any animal that is on the earth; the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the sky;
18 the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground; the likeness of any fish that is in the water below the earth.
19 And do not lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, which YEHOWAH your Elohim has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.
20 But YEHOWAH has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, from Egypt, to be a people for His own inheritance, as it is this day.
21 And YEHOWAH was angry with me on your account, and swore that I would not cross the Jordan, and that I would not enter the good land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you as an inheritance.
22 For I will die in this land; I shall not cross the Jordan, but you shall cross and take possession of this good land.
23 Take heed to yourselves, that you do not forget the covenant of YEHOWAH your Elohim which He made with you, and make for yourselves a graven image in the form of anything against which YEHOWAH your Elohim has commanded you.
24 For YEHOWAH your Elohim is a consuming fire; a jealous El.
25 When you beget children and children’s children, and have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make an idol in the form of anything, and do that which is evil in the sight of YEHOWAH your Elohim, so as to provoke Him to anger,
26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you will soon utterly perish from the land where you are going over the Jordan to possess it.  You shall not prolong your days on it, but shall be utterly destroyed.
27 And YEHOWAH will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where YEHOWAH drives you.
28 And there you will serve elohim; the work of man’s hands; wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell.
29 But from there you will seek YEHOWAH your Elohim, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.
30 And when you are in distress, and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to YEHOWAH your Elohim and shall be obedient to His voice.
31 For YEHOWAH your Elohim is a compassionate El; He will not forsake you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers, which He swore to them.
32 Indeed, ask now concerning the former days that were before you, since the day that Elohim created man on the earth, and inquire from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything been done like this great thing, or has anything been heard like it?
33 Have people heard the voice of Elohim speaking from the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and survived?
34 Or has an elohim attempted to take for itself a nation from within another nation by trials, by signs and wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm and by great terrors, according to all that YEHOWAH your Elohim did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
35 To you it was shown that you might know that YEHOWAH, He is Elohim; there is no other besides Him.
36 Out of heaven He let you hear His voice to discipline you; and on earth He let you see His great fire, and you heard His words from the midst of the fire;
37 because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their seed after them.  And He personally brought you from Egypt by His great power,
38 driving out nations from before you, greater and mightier than you; to bring you in and to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is today.
39 Know therefore this day, and take it to your heart, that YEHOWAH; He is Elohim in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.
40 So you shall keep His statutes and His commandments that I am giving you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days on the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you for all time.”
41 Then Moses set apart three cities across the Jordan to the east,
42 that a manslayer might flee there, who should kill their neighbor unawares, without having enmity toward them in time past; and by fleeing to one of these cities they might live:
43 Bezer in the wilderness on the plain for the Reubenites, and Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadites, and Golan in Bashan for the Manassites.
44 And this is the law that Moses set before the children of Israel;
45 and these are the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments that Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, when they came out from Egypt,
46 across the Jordan, in the valley opposite Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites who lived at Heshbon, whom Moses and the sons of Israel defeated when they came out from Egypt.
47 And they took possession of his land and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, who were across the Jordan to the east,
48 from Aroer, which is on the bank of the Arnon, even as far as Mount Sion (that is, Hermon),
49 with all the plain across the Jordan to the east, even as far as the sea of the plain, at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 5

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 5

Then Moses summoned all Israel and said to them: “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the judgments that I speak in your ears this day, that you may learn them and keep them and do them.
2 YEHOWAH our Elohim made a covenant with us at Horeb.
3 YEHOWAH did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us; all those of us alive here today.
4 Face to face YEHOWAH spoke to you at the mountain, from the midst of the fire,
5 while I stood between YEHOWAH and you at that time, to declare to you the word of YEHOWAH; for you were afraid because of the fire and did not go up the mountain. And He said,
6 ‘I am YEHOWAH your Elohim Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; out of the house of bondage.
7 You shall have no other elohim before Me.
8 You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
9 You shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them, for I, YEHOWAH your Elohim, am a jealous El, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children unto the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
10 but showing loving kindness to thousands; to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
11 You shall not take the Name of YEHOWAH your Elohim in vain, for YEHOWAH will not hold guiltless any who take His Name in vain.
12 Keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it, as YEHOWAH your Elohim commanded you.
13 ‘Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath of YEHOWAH your Elohim; in it you shall do no work; not you or your son or your daughter, or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your ass or any of your cattle, or your sojourner who stays with you, so that your male servants and your female servants may rest as well as you.
15 You shall remember that you were servants in the land of Egypt, and YEHOWAH your Elohim brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore YEHOWAH your Elohim commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
16 Honor your father and your mother, as YEHOWAH your Elohim has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you.
17 You shall not commit murder.
18 You shall not commit adultery.
19 You shall not steal.
20 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
21 You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, neither shall you covet your neighbor’s house, his field or his male servant or his female servant, his ox or his ass or anything that belongs to your neighbor.’
22 These words YEHOWAH spoke to all your assembly at the mountain from the midst of the fire; of the cloud and of the thick gloom, with a great voice, and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.
23 And it came to pass, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders,
24 and you said, ‘Behold, YEHOWAH our Elohim has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire; we have seen today that Elohim speaks with man, yet he lives.
25 Now then why should we die? For this great fire will consume us, if we hear the voice of YEHOWAH our Elohim any longer, then we will die.
26 For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living Elohim speaking from the midst of the fire, as we, and lived?
27 Go you near and hear all that YEHOWAH our Elohim says; then speak to us all that YEHOWAH our Elohim speaks to you, and we will hear and do it.’
28 And YEHOWAH heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and YEHOWAH said to me, ‘I have heard the voice of the words of this people that they have spoken to you. They have well said in all that they have spoken.
29 Oh that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear Me and keep all My commandments always; that it may be well with them and with their children forever!
30 Go, say to them, “Return to your tents.”
31 But as for you, stand here by Me, that I may speak to you all the commandments and the statutes and the judgments that you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land that I give them to possess.’
32 Take heed then to do as YEHOWAH your Elohim has commanded you; turn not aside to the right or to the left.
33 You shall walk in all the ways that YEHOWAH your Elohim has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 6

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 6

And these are the commandments, the statutes and the judgments that YEHOWAH your Elohim has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it;
2 that you might fear YEHOWAH your Elohim, to keep all his statutes and his commandments that I command you, and your children, and your grandchildren, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore O Israel, and take heed to do it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as YEHOWAH, the Elohim of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
4 Hear, O Israel! YEHOWAH our Elohim, is one YEHOWAH!
5 You shall love YEHOWAH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might.
6 And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.
7 You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
9 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
10 And it shall be, when YEHOWAH your Elohim brings you into the land that He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you; great and good cities that you did not build,
11 and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and wells dug that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied,
12 then beware, that you do not forget YEHOWAH Who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
13 You shall fear YEHOWAH your Elohim; and you shall serve Him and you shall swear by His Name.
14 You shall not follow other elohim; any of the elohim of the peoples who surround you,
15 for YEHOWAH your Elohim is a jealous El in your midst; unless the anger of YEHOWAH your Elohim be kindled against you, and He wipe you off the face of the earth.
16 You shall not put YEHOWAH your Elohim to the test, as you tested Him at Massah,
17 but you shall diligently keep the commandments of YEHOWAH your Elohim, and His testimonies and His statutes that He has commanded you.
18 And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of YEHOWAH, that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land that YEHOWAH swore to give your fathers,
19 by driving out all your enemies from before you, as YEHOWAH has spoken.
20 And when your children ask you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean that YEHOWAH our Elohim commanded you?’
21 Then you shall say to your children, ‘We were servants to Pharaoh in Egypt, and YEHOWAH brought us from Egypt with a mighty hand.
22 And YEHOWAH showed signs and wonders; great and grievous before our eyes upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh and upon all his household;
23 and He brought us out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land that He had sworn to our fathers.’
24 And YEHOWAH commanded us to observe all these statutes; to fear YEHOWAH our Elohim for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day.
25 And it will be our righteousness if we take heed to do all these commandments before YEHOWAH our Elohim, as He commanded us.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 7

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 7

When YEHOWAH your Elohim brings you into the land where you are going, to possess it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites and the Jebusites; seven nations greater and mightier than you,
2 and when YEHOWAH your Elohim delivers them before you and you strike them, then you shall utterly destroy them.  You shall make no covenant with them nor be gracious unto them.
3 And you shall make no marriages with them; you shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons.
4 For they will turn your children away from following Me to serve other elohim.  Then the anger of YEHOWAH will be kindled against you, and He will quickly destroy you.
5 But thus shall you do to them:  You shall tear down their altars, and crush their statues, and hew down their Asherim, and burn their graven images with fire,
6 for you are a holy people to YEHOWAH your Elohim; for YEHOWAH your Elohim has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
7 YEHOWAH did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples,
8 but YEHOWAH loved you and kept the oath that He swore to your forefathers, and YEHOWAH brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of bondage; from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9 Know therefore that YEHOWAH your Elohim, He is Elohim, the faithful El, Who keeps His covenant and His loving-kindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
10 and repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them; He will not delay with him who hates Him, He will repay him to his face.
11 Therefore, you shall keep the commandments and the statutes and the judgments that I am commanding you today, to do them.
12 And it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments and keep and do them, that YEHOWAH your Elohim will keep with you His covenant and His lovingkindness that He swore to your forefathers.
13 He will love you, bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground; your grain, your new wine and your oil; the increase of your oxen and the young of your flocks, in the land that He swore to your forefathers to give you.
14 You shall be blessed above all peoples; there will not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
15 And YEHOWAH will remove from you all sickness, and He will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, that you have known, upon you, but He will lay them upon all who hate you.
16 And you will consume all the peoples whom YEHOWAH your Elohim will deliver to you; your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you serve their elohim, for that would be a snare to you.
17 If you should say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?’
18 You shall fear them not, but you shall well remember what YEHOWAH your Elohim did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt:
19 the great trials that your eyes saw, and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm, by which YEHOWAH your Elohim brought you out.  So shall YEHOWAH your Elohim do to all the peoples whom you fear.
20 Moreover, YEHOWAH your Elohim will send the hornet against them, until those who are left and hide themselves from you perish.
21 You shall not dread them, for YEHOWAH your Elohim is in your midst; a great and feared El.
22 And YEHOWAH your Elohim will cast out these nations before you little by little.  You will not be able to put an end to them quickly, unless the wild beasts of the field would increase upon you,
23 but YEHOWAH your Elohim will deliver them before you, and will throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed.
24 And He will deliver their kings into your hand, so that you will make their name perish from under heaven.  No man will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them.
25 The graven images of their elohim you are to burn with fire; you shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to YEHOWAH your Elohim.
26 And you shall not bring an abomination into your house, unless you become a cursed thing like it, but you shall utterly detest it and you shall utterly abhor it, for it is a cursed thing.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 8

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 8

All the commandments that I am commanding you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that YEHOWAH swore to give to your forefathers.
2 And you shall remember all the way, which YEHOWAH your Elohim has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you; testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.
3 And He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of YEHOWAH.
4 Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years,
5 so you are to know in your heart that YEHOWAH your Elohim was disciplining you, just as a man disciplines his children.
6 Therefore, you shall keep the commandments of YEHOWAH your Elohim; to walk in His ways and to fear Him.
7 For YEHOWAH your Elohim is bringing you into a good land; a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills;
8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey;
9 a land where you will eat food without scarceness, in which you will not lack anything; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig brass.
10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless YEHOWAH your Elohim for the good land that He has given you.
11 Beware that you do not forget YEHOWAH your Elohim by not keeping His commandments and His judgments and His statutes that I am commanding you today,
12 otherwise, when you have eaten and are satisfied, and have built good houses and dwelled in them,
13 and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and gold multiply, and all that you have multiplies,
14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget YEHOWAH your Elohim Who brought you out from the land of Egypt; out of the house of bondage;
15 Who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and drought, where there was no water; Who brought you forth water out of the rock of flint;
16 Who in the wilderness fed you manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do good for you in the end.
17 Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’
18 But you shall remember YEHOWAH your Elohim, for it is He Who has given you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
19 And it shall come to pass, if you ever forget YEHOWAH your Elohim, and go after other elohim and serve them and worship them, I testify against you today that you will surely perish.
20 Like the nations that YEHOWAH makes to perish before you, so you shall perish, because you would not listen to the voice of YEHOWAH your Elohim.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 9

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 9

Hear, O Israel!  You are to pass over the Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than yourself; great cities and fortified to the sky;
2 a people great and tall, the children of the Anakim, whom you know and of whom you have heard it said, ‘Who can stand before the children of Anak?’
3 Know then this day that it is YEHOWAH your Elohim Who is passing over before you as a consuming fire; He will destroy them, and He will bring them down before you, so that you may drive them out and destroy them quickly, as YEHOWAH has spoken to you.
4 Speak not in your heart, after YEHOWAH your Elohim has driven them out before you, ‘For of my righteousness YEHOWAH has brought me in to possess this land,’ but it is for the wickedness of these nations that YEHOWAH is driving them out from before you.
5 It is not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart that you go to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations that YEHOWAH your Elohim is driving them out before you, and to perform the oath that YEHOWAH swore to your fathers; to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
6 Know therefore, that YEHOWAH your Elohim does not give you this good land to possess for your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.
7 Remember, and forget not, how you provoked YEHOWAH your Elohim to wrath in the wilderness; from the day you departed the land of Egypt until you have come to this place, you have been rebellious against YEHOWAH.
8 Even at Horeb you provoked YEHOWAH to wrath, and YEHOWAH was so angry with you; to destroy you.
9 When I went up to the mountain to receive the tablets of stone; the tablets of the covenant that YEHOWAH has made with you, and I dwelled on the mountain forty days and nights, I neither ate bread nor drank water,
10 and YEHOWAH gave me the two tablets of stone written by the finger of Elohim, and on them were all the words that YEHOWAH had spoken with you at the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.
11 And it came to pass, at the end of forty days and nights, that YEHOWAH gave me the two tablets of stone; the tablets of the covenant,
12 and YEHOWAH said to me, ‘Rise up, go down quickly from here, for your people whom you brought out of Egypt have acted corruptly.  They have quickly turned aside from the way that I commanded them; they have made for themselves a molten image.’
13 And YEHOWAH spoke further to me, saying, ‘I have seen this people, and indeed, it is a stiff-necked people.
14 Let Me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven, and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.’
15 So I turned and came down from the mountain while the mountain was burning with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands,
16 and I saw that you had indeed sinned against YEHOWAH your Elohim.  You had made a molten calf for yourselves; you had turned aside quickly from the way that YEHOWAH had commanded you.
17 And I took hold of the two tablets and threw them from my hands and smashed them before your eyes,
18 and I fell down before YEHOWAH, as at the first, forty days and nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you had sinned in doing what was evil in the sight of YEHOWAH, to provoke Him to anger.
19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which YEHOWAH was wrathful against you, in order to destroy you, but YEHOWAH heard me that time also.
20 And with Aaron YEHOWAH was very angry to destroy him, and I also prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
21 And I took your sin, the calf that you had made, and burned it with fire and crushed it, and ground it very small, until it was as fine as dust, and I cast the dust of it into the brook that came down from the mountain.
22 And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, you provoked YEHOWAH to wrath.
23 And when YEHOWAH sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, ‘Go up and possess the land that I have given you,’ and you rebelled against the command of YEHOWAH your Elohim; you neither believed Him nor heard His voice.
24 You have been rebellious against YEHOWAH from the day I knew you.
25 So I fell down before YEHOWAH the forty days and nights, as I did, because YEHOWAH had said He would destroy you.
26 And I prayed to YEHOWAH and said, ‘O Adonay YEHOWAH, destroy not Your people or Your inheritance, whom You have redeemed through Your greatness; whom You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27 Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not look at the stiff necks of this people or at their wickedness or their sin,
28 or else the land from which You brought us may say, “Because YEHOWAH was not able to bring them into the land that He had promised them, and because He hated them He has brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.”
29 Yet they are Your people, and Your inheritance, whom You have brought out by Your great power and Your outstretched arm.’

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 10

DEUTERONOMY: CHAPTER 10

At that time YEHOWAH said to me, ‘Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone like the former ones, and come up to Me on the mountain, and make an ark of wood for yourself.
2 I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets, which you shattered, and you shall put them in the ark.’
3 So I made an ark of acacia wood and cut out two tablets of stone, like the former ones, and went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hand.
4 And He wrote on the tablets, like the former writing; the Ten Commandments that YEHOWAH had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly, and YEHOWAH gave them to me.
5 Then I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark that I had made, and there they are, as YEHOWAH commanded me.”
6 And the children of Israel journeyed forth from Beeroth-Bene-jaakan to Moseroth.  There Aaron died, and there he was buried, and Eleazar his son ministered as priest in his place.
7 From there they journeyed forth to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah; a land of brooks of water.
8 At that time YEHOWAH set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of YEHOWAH; to stand before YEHOWAH to serve Him and to bless in His name until this day.
9 Therefore, Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers; YEHOWAH is his inheritance, just as YEHOWAH your Elohim spoke to him.
10 And I stayed on the mountain as in the former days, forty days and forty nights, and YEHOWAH listened to me that time also; YEHOWAH was not willing to destroy you.
11 And YEHOWAH said to me, ‘Rise up, take your journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.’
12 Now, Israel, what does YEHOWAH your Elohim require from you, but to fear YEHOWAH your Elohim; to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve YEHOWAH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul,
13 and to keep YEHOWAH’S commandments and His statutes that I am commanding you today for your good?
14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens belong to YEHOWAH your Elohim, and the earth and all that is in it.
15 Only, YEHOWAH had a delight on your fathers, to love them.  And He chose their seed after them, even you, above all peoples, as it is this day.
16 Circumcise therefore, the foreskin of your heart, and stiffen your neck no longer.
17 For YEHOWAH your Elohim is the Elohim of elohim and Adonay of lords; the Great, the Mighty, and the Awesome El, Who does not show partiality nor take a bribe.
18 He executes judgment for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the stranger by giving him food and clothing.
19 So show your love for the strangers, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
20 You shall fear YEHOWAH your Elohim; you shall serve Him and cleave unto Him, and you shall swear by His Name.
21 He is your praise and He is your Elohim, Who has done these great and awesome things for you, which your eyes have seen.
22 With seventy souls your fathers went down into Egypt, and now YEHOWAH your Elohim has made you as the stars of heaven in multitude.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 11

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 11

Therefore, you shall love YEHOWAH your Elohim, and always keep His charge, His statutes, His judgments, and His commandments.
2 And know you this day that I am not speaking with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of YEHOWAH your Elohim; His greatness; His mighty hand, and His outstretched arm;
3 and His signs and His acts, which He did in the midst of Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land;
4 and what He did to the army of Egypt, to its horses and its chariots, when He made the water of the Red Sea overflow them as they pursued after you, and YEHOWAH completely destroyed them to this day;
5 and what He did to you in the wilderness until you came to this place;
6 and what He did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all their living substance that followed them, among all Israel.
7 But your eyes have seen all the great acts of YEHOWAH, which He did.
8 Keep therefore every commandment that I am commanding you today, so that you may be strong and go in and possess the land into which you are about to cross to possess it,
9 and that you may prolong your days on the land that YEHOWAH swore to your fathers, to give to them and to their seed; a land flowing with milk and honey.
10 For the land into which you are entering to possess it, is not like the land of Egypt from which you came out, where you used to sow your seed and water it with your foot as a garden of herbs,
11 but the land into which you are passing over to possess; a land of hills and valleys, drinks water of the rain of heaven;
12 a land for which YEHOWAH your Elohim cares; the eyes of YEHOWAH your Elohim are always on it, from the beginning, even to the end of the age.
13 And it shall come to pass, if you listen obediently to my commandments that I am commanding you today, to love YEHOWAH your Elohim and to serve Him with all your heart and all your soul,
14 that He will give the rain for your land in its season; the early and late rain, that you may gather in your grain and your new wine and your oil.
15 He will give grass in your fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.
16 Take heed to yourselves that your heart be not deceived, and that you turn aside and serve other elohim and worship them,
17 and the wrath of YEHOWAH be kindled against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there will be no rain, and the ground will not yield its fruit, and you will perish quickly from the good land that YEHOWAH has given you.
18 You shall therefore lay up these words of mine on your heart and on your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
19 And you shall teach them to your children; speaking of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk along the road, and when you lie down, and when you rise up,
20 and you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
21 so that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied on the land that YEHOWAH swore to your fathers to give them; as long as the heavens remain above the earth.
22 For if you diligently keep all this commandments that I am commanding you to do, to love YEHOWAH your Elohim; to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him,
23 then YEHOWAH will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.
24 Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours; your border will be from the wilderness and Lebanon, and from the river; the river Euphrates, as far as the western sea.
25 No man will be able to stand before you.  YEHOWAH your Elohim will lay the dread of you and the fear of you on all the land on which you set foot, as He has spoken to you.
26 Behold, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse:
27 The blessing, if you obey the commandments of YEHOWAH your Elohim, that I am commanding you today;
28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of YEHOWAH your Elohim, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding you today, by following other elohim that you have not known.
29 And it shall come to pass, when YEHOWAH your Elohim brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, that you shall place the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.
30 Are they not on the other side of the Jordan, west of the way toward the sunset, in the land of the Canaanites who live on the plain, opposite Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?
31 For you are about to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it,
32 and you shall be careful to do all the statutes and the judgments that I am setting before you today.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 12

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 12

These are the statutes and the judgments that you shall heed and do in the land that YEHOWAH, the Elohim of your fathers, has given you to possess, all the days that you that you live on the earth.
2 You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations whom you shall dispossess serve their elohim; on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree.
3 You shall tear down their altars, and crush their statues, and burn their Asherim with fire; and you shall cut down the graven images of their elohim, and obliterate their name from that place.
4 You shall not do so unto YEHOWAH your Elohim,
5 but unto the place that YEHOWAH your Elohim will choose out of all your tribes, to put His Name there; even His habitation shall you seek, and there you shall come,
6 and there you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and of your flocks.
7 And you shall eat there before YEHOWAH your Elohim, and you shall rejoice; you and your households, in all you put your hand to do, which YEHOWAH your Elohim has blessed you.
8 You shall not do after all that we do here this day; each one doing whatever is right in their own eyes,
9 for you have not as yet come to the resting place and the inheritance that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you.
10 But when you pass over the Jordan and dwell in the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you to inherit, and He gives you rest from all your enemies round about, so that you dwell in security,
11 then there will be a place that YEHOWAH your Elohim will choose to cause His Name to dwell, and there shall you bring all that I command you:  Your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your choice vow offerings that you will vow to YEHOWAH.
12 And you shall rejoice before YEHOWAH your Elohim, and you and your sons and daughters, and your man-servants and maid-servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance with you.
13 Take heed to yourself that you not offer your burnt offerings in every place you see,
14 but in the place that YEHOWAH will choose in one of your tribes; there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.
15 Nevertheless, you may kill and eat meat within any of your gates, whatever your soul desires, according to the blessings of YEHOWAH your Elohim, which He has given you; the unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle or the deer;
16 only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it on the earth as water.
17 You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain or new wine or oil, or the firstborn of your herds or flocks, or any of your vow offerings which you vow, or your freewill offerings, or the heave-offerings of your hand,
18 but you shall eat them before YEHOWAH your Elohim in the place that YEHOWAH your Elohim will choose, and you and your sons and daughters, and your man-servants and your maid-servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, and you shall rejoice before YEHOWAH your Elohim in all you put your hand to do.
19 Take heed to yourself, that you forsake not the Levite as long as you dwell in your land.
20 When YEHOWAH your Elohim shall enlarge your border, as He has promised you, and you say, ‘I will eat meat,’ because your soul desires to eat meat, then you may eat meat, whatever your soul desires.
21 If the place that YEHOWAH your Elohim chooses to put His Name is too far from you, then you may kill of your herds and flocks that YEHOWAH has given you, as I have commanded you, and you may eat within your gates all that your soul desires.
22 Even as a gazelle or the deer is eaten, so you will eat it; the unclean and the clean alike may eat of it.
23 Only be sure that you eat not the blood, for the blood is the life, and you shall not eat the life with the flesh.
24 You shall not eat it; you shall pour it out on the earth like water.
25 You shall not eat it, so that it may be well with you and your children after you; and you will be doing what is right in the sight of YEHOWAH.
26 But your holy things which you may have, and your vow offerings, you shall take and go to the place that YEHOWAH chooses,
27 and you shall offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of YEHOWAH your Elohim; and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on the altar of YEHOWAH your Elohim, and you shall eat the flesh.
28 Take heed to hear all these words that I command you, so that it may go well with you and with your children after you forever; when you do what is good and right in the sight of YEHOWAH your Elohim.
29 When YEHOWAH your Elohim cuts off from before you the nations that you are going in to dispossess, and you dispossess them and dwell in their land,
30 take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared by following them, after they are destroyed from before you; and that you inquire not after their elohim, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their elohim, that I also may do likewise?’
31 You shall not do so unto YEHOWAH your Elohim, for every abomination to YEHOWAH, which He hates, have they done for their elohim; for even their sons and their daughters have they burned in the fire to their elohim.
32 And everything I command you, you shall take heed to do; you shall not add to it nor diminish it.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 13

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 13

If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder,
2 and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, concerning which was spoken to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other elohim (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,’
3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for YEHOWAH your Elohim is testing you, to know whether you love YEHOWAH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 You shall walk after YEHOWAH your Elohim and fear Him, and His commandments you shall keep; and His voice you shall hear; and you shall serve Him, and cleave to Him.
5 And that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because they have spoken to turn you away from YEHOWAH your Elohim, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you from the house of bondage; to draw you out from the way in which YEHOWAH your Elohim commanded you to walk.  So you shall consume the evil from among you.
6 If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other elohim’, whom you have not known; you nor your fathers,
7 of the elohim of the peoples who are round about you, near you or far from you; from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth,
8 you shall not acquiesce to them nor hear them, and your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you spare or conceal them,
9 but you shall surely kill them; your hand shall be first against them to put them to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people,
10 and you shall stone them to death, for they have sought to draw you away from YEHOWAH your Elohim, Who brought you out from the land of Egypt; out of the house of bondage.
11 And all Israel will hear and be afraid, and will do no more such a wicked thing among you.
12 If you shall hear in one of your cities that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you to dwell in, anyone saying that
13 children of Belial have gone out among you, and have mislead the inhabitants of their city, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other elohim’ (whom you have not known),
14 then you shall inquire and search out and ask diligently, and if it is true, and it is certain that such an abomination has been done among you,
15 you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying it and all that is in it, and its cattle, with the edge of the sword.
16 And you shall gather all its booty into the middle of its broad street and burn the city and all its booty with fire, as a whole burnt offering to YEHOWAH your Elohim; and it shall be a heap forever.  It shall never be rebuilt.
17 And nothing from that which is under the ban shall cleave to your hand, in order that YEHOWAH may turn from His burning anger and show mercy to you, and have compassion on you and multiply you, as He has sworn to your fathers;
18 when you hear the voice of YEHOWAH your Elohim, and keep all His commandments that I am commanding you today, and do what is right in the sight of YEHOWAH your Elohim.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 14

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 14

You are the children of YEHOWAH your Elohim; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead,
2 for you are a holy people to YEHOWAH your Elohim, and YEHOWAH has chosen you to be a peculiar people unto Himself; above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
3 You shall not eat any abominable thing.
4 These are the beasts that you may eat:  The ox, the sheep, the goat,
5 the hart, the gazelle, the deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the wild sheep,
6 and every beast that divides the hoof and is cloven footed, and chews the cud, among the animals that you may eat.
7 Nevertheless, these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or among those that divide the hoof in two:  The camel and the hare and the rock rabbit, for though they chew the cud, they do not divide the hoof.  They are unclean for you.
8 And the swine, because it divides the hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you.  You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses.
9 These you may eat of all that are in water:  Anything that has fins and scales you may eat,
10 but anything that does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.
11 All clean birds you may eat,
12 but these are the ones that you shall not eat:  The eagle and the vulture and the osprey,
13 and the red kite, and the hawk, and the vultures in their kinds,
14 and every raven in its kind,
15 and the ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, and the hawk in their kinds,
16 the little owl, the great owl, the swan,
17 the pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,
18 the stork, and the heron in their kinds, and the lapwing and the bat,
19 and every creeping animal that flies is unclean to you; they shall not be eaten.
20 You may eat any clean bird.
21 You shall not eat anything that dies of itself.  You may give it to a stranger in your city, so that they may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner, for you are a holy people to YEHOWAH your Elohim.  You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
22 You shall surely tithe all the increase from your seed; the produce from the field, year by year,
23 and you shall eat before YEHOWAH your Elohim, at the place where He chooses to establish His Name:  The tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, so that you may learn to fear YEHOWAH your Elohim always.
24 And if the journey is too long for you, that you are not able to carry the tithe, since the place where YEHOWAH your Elohim chooses to set His Name is too far away from you, when YEHOWAH your Elohim blesses you,
25 then you shall exchange it for money, and bind the money in your hand and go to the place that YEHOWAH your Elohim chooses.
26 You may give the money for whatsoever your soul desires:  For oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatsoever your soul desires, and there you shall eat in the presence of YEHOWAH your Elohim and rejoice; you and your household.
27 And you shall not forsake the Levite who is in your city, for he has no portion or inheritance among you.
28 At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your increase in that year, and shall lay it up within your city,
29 and the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance among you, and the stranger, and the orphan and the widow who are in your city, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that YEHOWAH your Elohim may bless you in all the work of your hand that you do.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 15

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 15

At the end of seven years you shall grant a release,
2 and this is the manner of the release:  Every creditor shall release what they have loaned to their neighbor; they shall not exact it of their neighbor or their brethren, because it is called YEHOWAH’S release.
3 From a foreigner you may exact it, but what is yours with your brethren your hand shall release.
4 Howbeit, there shall be no poor among you, for YEHOWAH will surely bless you in the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you as an inheritance to possess,
5 if only you hear the voice of YEHOWAH your Elohim, to observe and do all these commandments that I am commanding you today.
6 For YEHOWAH your Elohim will bless you as He has promised you, and you will lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.  And you shall reign over many nations, but they will not reign over you.
7 If there are poor among you of your brethren, in any of your cities in your land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brethren,
8 but you shall open wide your hand to them, and shall generously lend them sufficient for their need in whatever they lack.
9 Beware that there is not a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year; the year of release is at hand,’ and your eye is evil toward your poor brethren, and you give them nothing.  Then they may cry to YEHOWAH against you, and it will be a sin unto you.
10 You shall give bountifully to them, and your heart will not be grieved when you give to them, because for this thing YEHOWAH your Elohim will bless you in all your work, and in all that you put your hand to do.
11 For the poor shall never cease to be in the land, therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall freely open your hand to your brethren; to your needy and poor in your land.’
12 And if your kinsman, a Hebrew man or woman, is sold to you, then they shall serve you six years, but in the seventh year you shall set them free.
13 And when you set them free, you shall not send them away empty-handed,
14 but you shall furnish them liberally from your flock and from your threshing floor and from your wine vat; you shall give to them as YEHOWAH your Elohim has blessed you.
15 And you shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and YEHOWAH your Elohim redeemed you.  Therefore, I command you this thing this day.
16 And it shall be, if he says to you, ‘I will not go out from you,’ because he loves you and your household, since he fared well with you,
17 then you shall take an awl and pierce it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your manservant forever.  And also unto your maidservant you shall do likewise.
18 It shall not seem hard to you when you set him free, for he has been worth double the service of a hired servant, in serving you six years, and YEHOWAH your Elohim will bless you in all that you do.
19 Every firstling that is born of your herds and your flocks you shall sanctify unto YEHOWAH your Elohim; you shall do no work with the firstborn of your herds, nor shear the firstborn of your flocks,
20 and you shall eat it year by year before YEHOWAH your Elohim in the place that YEHOWAH chooses; you and your household.
21 But if it has any defect:  Lameness or blindness, or any ill blemish, you shall not sacrifice it unto YEHOWAH your Elohim.
22 You shall eat it within your gates; the unclean and the clean alike may eat it, as a gazelle or a deer;
23 only you shall not eat its blood.  You are to pour it out on the earth like water.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 16

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 16

Keep the month of Abib and celebrate the Passover to YEHOWAH your Elohim, for in the month of Abib YEHOWAH your Elohim brought you forth out of Egypt by night.
2 You shall sacrifice the Passover unto YEHOWAH your Elohim from the flock and the herd, in the place where YEHOWAH will choose to establish His Name.
3 You shall eat no leavened bread with it.  Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it; the bread of affliction, for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste, so that you may remember all the days of your life the day when you came out of the land of Egypt.
4 And there shall be no leaven seen in all your territory for seven days; neither shall any of the flesh, which you sacrificed on the evening of the first day, remain overnight until morning.
5 You may not sacrifice the Passover in any of your cities that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you,
6 but at the place where YEHOWAH your Elohim will choose to cause His Name to dwell; there you shall sacrifice the Passover in the evening at sunset, at the time that you came forth out of Egypt.
7 You shall cook and eat it in the place that YEHOWAH your Elohim will choose, and in the morning you are to return to your tents.
8 Six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a solemn assembly to YEHOWAH your Elohim; you shall do no work.
9 Seven weeks shall you count for yourself; from the beginning of putting the sickle into the grain, shall you begin to count seven weeks.
10 And you shall keep the Feast of Weeks to YEHOWAH your Elohim with a tribute of a freewill offering of your hand, which you shall give as YEHOWAH your Elohim has blessed you,
11 and you shall rejoice before YEHOWAH your Elohim; you and your sons and your daughters, and your man-servant and your maid-servants, and the Levite who is in your city, and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your midst; in the place where YEHOWAH your Elohim has chosen to cause His Name to dwell.
12 You shall remember that you were servants in Egypt, and you shall keep and do these statutes.
13 You shall celebrate the Feast of Booths seven days after you have gathered in from your threshing floor and your wine press,
14 and you shall rejoice in your feast; you and your sons and your daughters, and your man-servants and your maid-servants, and the Levite and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your cities.
15 Seven days you shall celebrate a feast to YEHOWAH your Elohim in the place that YEHOWAH has chosen, because YEHOWAH your Elohim will bless you in all your increase, and in all the work of your hands.  Therefore, you shall surely rejoice.
16 Three times in a year all your males shall appear before YEHOWAH your Elohim in the place He has chosen:  At the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths, and they shall not appear before YEHOWAH empty.
17 Each shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of YEHOWAH your Elohim that He has given you.
18 You shall appoint for yourself judges and officers in all your cities that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you, throughout your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
19 You shall not stretch justice; you shall not respect persons; nor shall you take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.
20 That which is altogether just, shall you pursue, that you may dwell in and possess the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you.
21 You shall not plant for yourself an Asherah of any kind of tree near the altar of YEHOWAH your Elohim, which you shall make for yourself.
22 Neither shall you set up for yourself a statue that YEHOWAH your Elohim hates.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 17

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 17

You shall not sacrifice to YEHOWAH your Elohim an ox or a sheep that has a blemish or any defect, for that is an abomination to YEHOWAH your Elohim.
2 If there is found among you, in any of your cities that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you, a man or a woman who does evil in the sight of YEHOWAH your Elohim, by transgressing His covenant,
3 and has gone and served other elohim and worshiped them, or the sun or the moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded,
4 and it is told you, and you have heard it, then you shall ask diligently, and behold, if it is true and the abomination has been done in Israel,
5 then you shall bring out that man or that woman who has done this evil thing to your gates, that is, the man or the woman, and you shall stone them with stones until they die.
6 On the testimony of two witnesses or three witnesses, they who are to die shall be put to death; none shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness.
7 The hand of the witnesses shall be first against them, to put them to death, and afterward the hand of all the people; and you shall purge the evil from your midst.
8 If there arises a matter too hard for you in judgment, between bloodshed and bloodshed, or between plea and plea, or between stroke and stroke; matters of controversy within your cities, then you shall rise up and go to the place that YEHOWAH your Elohim shall choose,
9 and you shall come unto the priest; the Levite, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and you shall inquire, and they will declare to you the sentence of judgment.
10 And you shall do according to the word of the sentence that they declare to you, from that place which YEHOWAH shall choose and shall show you, and you shall do according to all that they instruct you.
11 According to the sentence of the law that they instruct you, and according to the verdict that they speak, you shall do; you shall not turn aside from the sentence that they show you, to the right or to the left.
12 And the person who acts presumptuously by not obeying the priest who stands to minister before YEHOWAH your Elohim, or unto the judge, that person shall die; thus you shall purge the evil from Israel.
13 And all the people will hear and be afraid, and will act presumptuously no more.
14 When you come into the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you, and you possess it and dwell in it, and shall say, ‘I will set a king over me, like all the nations who are round about me,’
15 you shall only appoint him king over you whom YEHOWAH your Elohim shall choose. From among your brethren shall you set a king over yourselves; you may not put a foreigner over you, who is not of your brethren.
16 Only he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor shall he cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, since YEHOWAH has said to you, ‘You shall never again return that way.’
17 Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, or else his heart will turn away; neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver or gold.
18 And it shall be, that when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he will write for himself a copy of this law in a book, in the presence of the priests; the Levites.
19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read from it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear YEHOWAH his Elohim; to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, and do them;
20 that his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from these commandments, to the right or to the left; that he may prolong his days in his kingdom; he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 18

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 18

The priests, the Levites; the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel.  YEHOWAH’S offerings by fire, and His inheritance, shall they eat,
2 but they shall have no inheritance among their brethren.  YEHOWAH is their inheritance, as He has said to them.
3 And this shall be the priests’ due from the people; from those who offer a sacrifice, whether ox or sheep:  They shall give unto the priest the shoulder and the cheeks and the stomach.
4 The first fruits also of your grain, your wine and your oil, and the first fruits of the shearing of your sheep you shall give him.
5 For YEHOWAH your Elohim has chosen him and his sons from all your tribes, to stand and minister in the Name of YEHOWAH forever.
6 And if a Levite shall come from any of your cities, out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and shall come with all the desire of his soul to the place that YEHOWAH shall choose,
7 then he shall minister in the Name of YEHOWAH his Elohim, like all his brethren Levites who stand there before YEHOWAH,
8 and they shall have equal portions, except what they receive from the sale of their fathers’ estates.
9 When you come into the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes their son or their daughter pass through the fire, or who use divination, or observers of time, or enchanters, or who practice witchcraft,
11 or a charmer, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who consults the dead.
12 For whoever does these things is an abomination to YEHOWAH, and because of these abominations, YEHOWAH your Elohim will drive them out before you.
13 You shall be perfect with YEHOWAH your Elohim,
14 for the nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who observe time, and to diviners, but as for you, YEHOWAH your Elohim has not granted you so.
15 YEHOWAH your Elohim will raise up for you a prophet from the midst of you, from your brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall listen.
16 According to all that you desired of YEHOWAH your Elohim in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of YEHOWAH my Elohim, neither let me see this great fire anymore, unless I die.’
17 And YEHOWAH said to me, ‘They have spoken well!
18 I will raise up a prophet from among their brethren like unto you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I command him.
19 And it shall come to pass, that whoever will not obey My words, which he shall speak in My Name, I will require it of them.
20 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My Name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or which speaks in the name of other elohim, that prophet shall die.’
21 And if you say in your heart, ‘How will we know the word that YEHOWAH has not spoken?’
22 When a prophet speaks in the Name of YEHOWAH, if the matter does not come about, or come true, that is the matter of which YEHOWAH has not spoken.  The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not fear them.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 19

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 19

When YEHOWAH your Elohim cuts off the nations, whose land YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you, and you dispossess them and settle in their cities and in their houses,
2 you shall separate three cities for yourself in the midst of your land, which YEHOWAH your Elohim gives you to possess.
3 You shall prepare highways for yourself, and divide the territory of your land, which YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you as a possession, into three parts, so that every manslayer may flee there.
4 And this is the case of the manslayer who may flee there, that they may live:  When anyone kills a friend unintentionally, not hating them previously,
5 as when someone goes into the forest with a friend to cut wood, and their hand swings the ax to cut down the tree, and the iron head slips off the handle and strikes their friend so that they die; they may flee to one of these cities and dwell,
6 lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer in the heat of anger, and overtake them, because the way is long, and take their life, though they were not deserving of death, since they had not hated them previously.
7 Therefore, I command you, saying, ‘You shall set aside three cities for yourself.’
8 And if YEHOWAH your Elohim enlarges your territory, as He has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land that He promised to give your fathers;
9 if you do and observe all this commandment that I command you today, to love YEHOWAH your Elohim, and to walk in His ways always, then you shall add three more cities for yourself, besides these three,
10 so that innocent blood will not be shed in the midst of your land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you as an inheritance, and bloodguiltiness be on you.
11 But if there is anyone who shall hate their neighbor, and lie in wait for them, and rise up against them and strike them mortally, so that they die, and they flee to one of these cities,
12 then the elders of their city shall send and seize them from there and deliver them into the hand of the avenger of blood, that they may die.
13 Your eye shall not pity them, but you shall purge the blood of the innocent from Israel, that it may go well with you.
14 You shall not move your neighbor’s boundary mark, which of old time have been set for your inheritance, which you will inherit in the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you to possess.
15 One witness shall not rise up against anyone, for an iniquity, or for a sin that they have committed.  At the mouth of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed.
16 If a false witness rises up against anyone, to testify against them of wrongdoing,
17 then both of those who have the dispute shall stand before YEHOWAH; before the priests, and before the judges who will be in those days,
18 and the judges shall inquire diligently, and behold, if the witness is a false witness and they have testified falsely against their brethren,
19 then shall you do to them as they had thought to have done to their brethren.  Thus you shall purge the evil from among you.
20 And the rest will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such an evil thing among you.
21 And your eye shall not pity:  Life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and foot for foot.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 20

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 20

When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots; people more numerous than you, do not fear them, for YEHOWAH your Elohim, Who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you.
2 And it shall be, when you approach the battle, the priest shall come and speak to the people,
3 and he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, you approach this day to battle against your enemies.  Let not your heart be faint; fear not, and do not tremble or be afraid of them,
4 for YEHOWAH your Elohim is He Who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies; to save you.’
5 And the officers shall also speak to the people, saying, ‘What man has built a house and not dedicated it? Let him depart and return to his house, lest he dies in the battle, and another man dedicates it.
6 And what man has planted a vineyard and not eaten of it? Let him depart and return to his house, lest he dies in the battle, and another man eats of it.
7 And what man is betrothed a wife, and has not married her? Let him depart and return to his house, lest he dies in the battle and another man takes her.’
8 And the officers shall speak further to the people and say, ‘What man is afraid and faint of heart? Let him depart and return to his house, lest his brethrens’ hearts faint as well as his heart.’
9 And it shall be, when the officers have ended speaking to the people, they shall appoint captains of the armies at the head of the people.
10 When you approach a city to fight against it, you shall proclaim peace to it,
11 and it shall be, if it makes you an answer of peace, and opens unto you, then all the people who are found therein shall become tributaries unto you, and shall serve you.
12 But if it will not make peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it,
13 and when YEHOWAH your Elohim gives it into your hand, you shall strike every male thereof with the edge of the sword.
14 Only the women, and the children, and the animals, and all that is in the city; all its spoil, you shall take as booty for yourself.  And you shall eat the spoil of your enemies that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you.
15 Thus you shall do to all the cities that are very far from you; that are not of the cities of these nations.
16 But of the cities of these peoples that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you as an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes.
17 You shall utterly destroy them:  The Hittite and the Amorite, the Canaanite and the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, as YEHOWAH your Elohim has commanded you;
18 that they teach you not to do according to all their abominations, which they have done unto their elohim, so that you sin against YEHOWAH your Elohim.
19 When you shall besiege a city many days, in making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy its trees thereof by taking an ax against them; for you may eat of them, but you shall not cut them down.  For is the tree of the field a man, that it should be besieged?
20 Only the trees that you know are not trees for fruit you shall destroy and cut down, that you may construct siege works against the city that is making war with you until it falls.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 21

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 21

If one be found slain, in the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you to possess, lying in a field, and it is not known who has struck him,
2 then your elders and your judges shall go out and measure to the cities that are round about the slain one,
3 and it shall be that the city nearest the slain person; even the elders of that city, shall take a heifer of the herd, which has not been worked and which has not pulled in a yoke,
4 and the elders of that city shall bring the heifer down to a valley with running water, which has not been plowed or sown, and shall break the heifer’s neck there in the valley.
5 And the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near, for YEHOWAH your Elohim has chosen them to minister unto Him, and to bless in the Name of YEHOWAH; and every dispute and every assault shall be settled by them.
6 And the elders of that city nearest the slain person shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley,
7 and they shall answer and say, ‘Our hands have not shed this blood, nor have our eyes seen it.
8 Forgive Your people Israel, whom You, O YEHOWAH, have redeemed, and lay not the guilt of innocent blood in the midst of Your people Israel.’  And the blood-guiltiness shall be forgiven them.
9 So you shall remove the guilt of innocent blood from your midst, when you do what is right in the eyes of YEHOWAH.
10 When you go forth to battle against your enemies, and YEHOWAH your Elohim delivers them into your hands, and you take them away captive,
11 and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and have a desire for her, and would have her for your wife,
12 then you shall bring her home to your house, and she shall shave her head and trim her nails,
13 and she shall remove the clothes of her captivity, and shall remain in your house, and mourn her father and mother a full month; and after that you may go in to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife.
14 And it shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall let her go wherever she desires, but you shall in no way sell her for money; nor shall you treat her as a slave, because you have humbled her.
15 If a man has two wives, the one loved and the other hated, and the loved and the hated have borne him sons, if the firstborn son be hers that is hated,
16 then it shall be in the day he wills what he has to his sons, he cannot make the son of the loved the firstborn before the son of the hated, who is the firstborn.
17 But he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the hated, by giving him a double portion of all that he has, for he is the beginning of his strength; to him belongs the right of the firstborn.
18 If anyone has a stubborn and rebellious child who will not obey their father or mother, and when they chastise them, they will not even listen to them,
19 then their father and mother shall seize them, and bring them out to the elders of their city, at the gateway of their home city,
20 and they shall say to the elders of their city, ‘This child of ours is stubborn and rebellious; they will not obey us; they are a glutton and a drunkard.’
21 Then all the men of their city shall stone them to death, so you shall remove the evil from your midst, and all Israel will hear of it and fear.
22 If anyone has committed a sin worthy of death and they are put to death, and you hang them on a tree,
23 their corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury them on the same day (for they who are hanged are accursed of Elohim), so that you do not defile your land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you as an inheritance.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 22

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 22

You shall not see your brethren’s ox or his sheep go astray, and hide yourself from them; you shall in any case bring them back to your brethren.
2 And if your brethren are not near you, or if you know them not, then you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall remain with you until your brethren looks for it; then you shall restore it to them.
3 In like manner shall you do with their ass, and so shall you do with their clothing, and so shall you do with anything lost by your brethren, which they have lost and you have found. You are not allowed to hide yourself.
4 You shall not see your brethren’s ass or their ox fall by the way, and hide yourself from them; you shall surely help them to raise them up.
5 A woman shall not wear a man’s apparel, nor shall a man put on a woman’s clothing, for all who do so are an abomination to YEHOWAH your Elohim.
6 If a bird’s nest happens to be before you along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young;
7 you shall in any wise let the mother go, but the young you may take for yourself, in order that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days.
8 When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof, so that you will not bring bloodguilt on your house if anyone falls from it.
9 You shall not sow your vineyard with mingled seed, lest the whole of the seed that you have sown, and the produce of your vineyard, be defiled.
10 You shall not plow with an ox and an ass together.
11 You shall not wear a material mixed of wool and linen together.
12 You shall make yourself tassels on the four corners of your garment with which you cover yourself.
13 If any man takes a wife and goes in to her and hates her,
14 and charges her with evil deeds, openly implicating her, saying, ‘I took this woman, but when I came near her, I found her not to be a virgin,’
15 then shall the father of the girl, and her mother, take and bring forth evidence of the girl’s virginity to the elders of the city at the gate,
16 and the girl’s father shall say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man for a wife, but he hates her;
17 and behold, he has charged her with evil deeds, saying, “I did not find your daughter a virgin.”  But this is evidence of my daughter’s virginity.’  And they shall spread the garment before the elders of the city.
18 And the elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him,
19 and they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give it to the girl’s father, because he openly defamed a virgin of Israel.  And she shall remain his wife; he cannot divorce her all his days.
20 But if this thing is true, that the girl was not found a virgin,
21 then they shall bring out the girl to the doorway of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones, that she die, because she has brought forth disgrace in Israel by playing the whore in her father’s house.  Thus you shall purge the evil from among you.
22 If a man is found lying with a married woman, then both of them shall die; the man who lay with the woman, and the woman.  Thus you shall purge the evil from Israel.
23 If a girl, a virgin engaged to a man, and another man finds her in the city and lies with her,
24 then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them with stones that they die; the girl, because she did not cry out in the city, and the man, because he has humbled his neighbor’s wife.  Thus you shall purge the evil from among you.
25 But if a man finds a betrothed girl in the field, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lies with her shall die.
26 You shall do nothing to the girl; there is no sin in the girl worthy of death, for just as one rises against their neighbor and murders them, so is this case.
27 When he found her in the field, the betrothed girl cried out, but there was no one to save her.
28 If a man finds a girl who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found,
29 then the man who lay with her shall give to the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has humbled her; he cannot divorce her all his days.
30 A man shall not take his father’s wife, so that he will not uncover his father’s skirt.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 23

DEUTERONOMY: CHAPTER 23

He that is mutilated or wounded in his male organ shall not enter into the assembly of YEHOWAH.
2 No one of illegitimate birth shall enter the assembly of YEHOWAH; none of his seed, even to the tenth generation, shall enter the assembly of YEHOWAH.
3 No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of YEHOWAH; none of their seed, even to the tenth generation, shall ever enter the assembly of YEHOWAH,
4 because they met you not with food or water on the way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.
5 Nevertheless, YEHOWAH your Elohim was not willing to listen to Balaam, but YEHOWAH your Elohim turned the curse into a blessing unto you, because YEHOWAH your Elohim loves you.
6 You shall not ever seek their peace or their prosperity all your days.
7 You shall not abhor an Edomite, for they are your brethren; nor shall you abhor an Egyptian, because you were a stranger in their land.
8 The children begotten of them may enter into the assembly of YEHOWAH, in their third generation.
9 When the army goes forth against your enemies, you shall keep yourself from every evil thing.
10 If there is among you any man who is unclean because of a nocturnal emission, then he must go outside the camp; he may not reenter the camp,
11 and it shall be when evening comes, he shall bathe himself with water, and at sundown he may reenter the camp.
12 You shall also have a place outside the camp and relieve yourselves out there,
13 and you shall have a spade among your tools, and it shall be when you sit down outside, you shall dig with it and shall turn to cover your excrement,
14 for YEHOWAH your Elohim walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and to defeat your enemies before you.  Therefore shall your camp be holy, that He sees nothing disgraceful among you, and turn away from you.
15 You shall not deliver to their lord a slave who has escaped from their lord to you.
16 They shall dwell with you in your midst; in the place that they shall choose in one of your cities, where it pleases them; you shall not mistreat them.
17 There shall be no prostitutes among the daughters of Israel, nor any sodomite of the sons of Israel.
18 You shall not bring the hire of a whore, or the wages of a male prostitute, into the house of YEHOWAH your Elohim for any vow offering, for behold, both of these are an abomination to YEHOWAH your Elohim.
19 You shall not charge interest to your brethren:  Interest of money; interest of food, or interest of anything that may be loaned at interest.
20 You may charge interest to a foreigner, but to your brethren you shall not charge interest, so that YEHOWAH your Elohim may bless you in all that you set your hand to do in the land that you are about to enter to possess.
21 When you shall vow a vow to YEHOWAH your Elohim, you shall not delay to pay it, for YEHOWAH your Elohim will surely require it of you, and it would be sin in you.
22 However, if you forbear from vowing, it would not be sin in you.
23 That which has gone forth from your lips you shall keep and do, just as if you have voluntarily vowed to YEHOWAH your Elohim what you have spoken with your mouth.
24 When you enter your neighbor’s vineyard, you may eat grapes until you are full, according to your desire, but you shall not put any in a vessel.
25 When you enter your neighbor’s standing grain, then you may pluck with your hands, but you shall not move a sickle in your neighbor’s standing grain.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 24

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 24

When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes, because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a bill of divorce, and puts it in her hand, and sends her out from his house,
2 and she leaves his house and goes and becomes another man’s wife,
3 and the latter husband turns against her and writes her a bill of divorce, and puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her to be his wife,
4 her former husband who sent her away may not take her again to be his wife, since she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before YEHOWAH, and you shall not sin on the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you as an inheritance.
5 When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out to war or be charged with any duty; he shall be free at home one year, and shall make glad his wife whom he has taken.
6 No one shall take a hand mill or an upper millstone in pledge, for he would be taking a life in pledge.
7 If anyone is caught kidnapping any of their brethren of the children of Israel, and they deal with them violently or sell them, then that kidnapper shall die.  So you shall purge the evil from among you.
8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that you diligently observe and do according to all that the priests; the Levites, teach you.  As I have commanded them, so you shall observe to do.
9 Remember what YEHOWAH your Elohim did to Miriam on the way, after you came forth out of Egypt.
10 When you lend your brethren anything, you shall not enter their house to fetch their pledge.
11 You shall remain outside, and the one to whom you make the loan shall bring the pledge out to you.
12 If they are poor, you shall not sleep with their pledge,
13 but when the sun goes down, you shall surely return the pledge to them, that they may sleep in their garment and bless you; and it will be righteousness for you before YEHOWAH your Elohim.
14 You shall not oppress a poor and needy hired servant, whether they be one of your brethren or one of your strangers who is in your land in your cities,
15 but every day you shall give them their wage, before the sun sets, for they are poor and set their heart on it; so that they will not cry against you to YEHOWAH and it become sin in you.
16 Fathers shall not be put to death for their sons, nor shall sons be put to death for their fathers; everyone shall be put to death for their own sin.
17 You shall not pervert the judgment due a stranger or an orphan, nor take a widow’s garment in pledge,
18 but you shall remember that you were a servant in Egypt, and that YEHOWAH your Elohim redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing.
19 When you reap your harvest in your field and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the stranger, for the orphan, and for the widow, in order that YEHOWAH your Elohim may bless you in all the work of your hands.
20 When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the stranger, for the orphan, and for the widow.
21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not go over it again; it shall be for the stranger, for the orphan, and for the widow.
22 You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, therefore I command you to do this thing.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 25

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 25

If there is a dispute between brethren and they go to judgment, and the judges judge, and they justify the righteous and condemn the wicked,
2 it shall be that if the wicked one deserves to be beaten, the judge shall make them lie down and be beaten in his presence with the number of stripes according to their guilt.
3 Forty stripes he may beat them, but no more, so that he does not beat them with many more stripes than these and your brethren would seem vile in your eyes.
4 You shall not muzzle the ox while he is threshing.
5 When brothers dwell together and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the deceased shall not marry outside the family to a stranger.  Her husband’s brother shall go in to her and take her to himself as wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.
6 And it shall be, that the firstborn whom she bears shall assume the name of his dead brother, so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.
7 But if the man does not take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders and say, ‘My husband’s brother refuses to raise up a name for his brother in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.’
8 Then the elders of his city shall summon him and speak to him, and if he stands and says, ‘I will not take her,’
9 then his brother’s wife shall come near to him in the sight of the elders, and pull off his shoe from his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall speak, saying, ‘So shall it be done to the man who will not build up his brother’s house;’
10 and in Israel his name shall be called, ‘The house of him whose shoe is removed.’
11 When men strive together, one with another, and the wife of one comes near to rescue her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts forth her hand and seizes his genitals,
12 then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity.
13 You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a great and a small.
14 You shall not have in your house differing measures, a great and a small.
15 You shall have a full and right weight; you shall have a full and right measure, that your days may be prolonged in the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim gives you.
16 For all that do these things; everyone that acts unrighteously, is an abomination unto YEHOWAH your Elohim.
17 Remember what Amalek did to you along the way, when you came forth out from Egypt;
18 how he met you along the way, and attacked the hindmost of you; all the feeble behind you; when you were faint and weary, and he did not fear Elohim.
19 Therefore it shall be, when YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you for an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out all remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you must not forget.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 26

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 26

And it shall be, when you come in to the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you as an inheritance, and you possess it and dwell in it,
2 that you shall take of the first of all the produce of the earth, which you bring in from your land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you, and you shall put it in a basket and go to the place where YEHOWAH your Elohim has chosen to establish His Name,
3 and you shall go to the priest that shall be at that time, and say to him, ‘I profess this day to YEHOWAH my Elohim, that I have come into the land that YEHOWAH swore to our fathers to give us.’
4 And the priest shall take the basket from your hand, and set it down before the altar of YEHOWAH your Elohim,
5 and you shall answer and say before YEHOWAH your Elohim, ‘A wandering Syrian was my father, and he went down into Egypt and sojourned there, being a few in number, but there he became a nation; great, mighty and populous.
6 And the Egyptians, evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and imposed hard labor on us,
7 and we cried unto YEHOWAH, the Elohim of our fathers, and YEHOWAH heard our voice and saw our affliction and our labor and our oppression,
8 and YEHOWAH brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror and with signs and wonders,
9 and He has brought us to this place, and has given us this land; a land flowing with milk and honey.
10 And now behold, I have brought the first of the produce of the ground that You, O YEHOWAH, have given me.’  And you shall set it down before YEHOWAH your Elohim, and worship before YEHOWAH your Elohim.
11 And you shall rejoice in all the good that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you and your household; you and the Levite, and the stranger who is among you.
12 And when you have finished paying all the tithe of your increase in the third year; the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the stranger, to the orphan, and to the widow, that they may eat in your cities and be satisfied.
13 And you shall say before YEHOWAH your Elohim, ‘I have brought the sacred portion out of my house, and have given it to the Levite, and the stranger, the orphan, and the widow, according to all Your commandments that You have commanded me; I have not transgressed or forgotten any of Your commandments.
14 I have not eaten of it while mourning, nor have I removed any of it while I was unclean, nor offered any of it for the dead.  I have heard the voice of YEHOWAH my Elohim; and I have done according to all that You have commanded me.
15 Look down from Your holy habitation; from heaven, and bless Your people Israel, and the ground that You have given us; a land flowing with milk and honey, as You swore to our fathers.’
16 This day YEHOWAH your Elohim commands you to do these statutes and judgments. You shall therefore be careful to do them with all your heart and with all your soul.
17 You have this day, declared YEHOWAH to be your Elohim, and that you would walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments, and His judgments, and listen to His voice.
18 And this day, YEHOWAH has declared that you are His peculiar people, as He promised you, and that you should keep all His commandments,
19 so that He shall make you high above all nations, which He has made, in praise, and in fame, and in honor, and that you shall be a holy people unto YEHOWAH your Elohim, as He has spoken.”

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 27

DEUTERONOMY: CHAPTER 27

And Moses, along with the elders of Israel, charged the people, saying, “Keep all the commandments that I command you today.
2 So it shall be on the day when you cross the Jordan to the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you, that you shall set up for yourself great stones and plaster them with lime,
3 and you shall write upon them all the words of this law; when you cross over, so that you may enter into the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you; a land flowing with milk and honey, as YEHOWAH, the Elohim of your fathers, promised you.
4 And it shall be, when you go over the Jordan, you shall set up these stones, as I command you today, on Mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with lime.
5 And there you shall build an altar to YEHOWAH your Elohim; an altar of stones.  You shall not lift up an iron implement on them;
6 you shall build the altar of YEHOWAH your Elohim of uncut stones, and you shall offer on it burnt offerings to YEHOWAH your Elohim.
7 And you shall sacrifice peace offerings, and eat there, and rejoice before YEHOWAH your Elohim.
8 And you shall write on the stones all the words of this law very plainly.”
9 And Moses and the priests; the Levites, spoke to all Israel, saying, “Take heed and listen, O Israel!  This day you have become the people of YEHOWAH your Elohim;
10 you shall therefore hear the voice of YEHOWAH your Elohim, and do His commandments and His statutes that I command you today.”
11 And Moses commanded the people on that day, saying,
12 “These shall stand upon Mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you come over the Jordan:  Simeon, Levi, Yehudah, Issachar, Yehseph, and Benyehmin.
13 And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal for the curse:  Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
14 And the Levites shall speak and say unto all the children of Israel with a loud voice,
15 ‘Cursed is the person who makes an idol or a molten image; an abomination to YEHOWAH, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and puts it up in secret.’  And all the people shall answer and say, ‘Amen.’
16 ‘Cursed is the person who dishonors his father or mother.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
17 ‘Cursed is the person who moves his neighbor’s boundary mark.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
18 ‘Cursed is the person who makes a blind person wander out of their way.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
19 ‘Cursed is the person who perverts the judgment due to a stranger, an orphan, and a widow.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
20 ‘Cursed is the person who lies with his father’s wife, because he has uncovered his father’s skirt.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
21 ‘Cursed is the person who lies with any animal.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
22 ‘Cursed is the person who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
23 ‘Cursed is the person who lies with his mother-in-law.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
24 ‘Cursed is the person who strikes their neighbor in secret.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
25 ‘Cursed is the person who takes a bribe to strike down an innocent person.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
26 ‘Cursed is the person who does not confirm the words of this law to do them.’  And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 28

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 28

And it shall come to pass, if you diligently hear YEHOWAH your Elohim, and take heed to do all His commandments, that I command you today, YEHOWAH your Elohim will set you high above all the nations of the earth,
2 and all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you; if you listen to the voice of YEHOWAH your Elohim:
3 Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of the earth, and the fruit of your beasts; the increase of your herds, and the increase of your flocks.
5 Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading trough.
6 Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
7 YEHOWAH shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways.
8 YEHOWAH will command the blessing upon you in your storehouses, and in all that you put your hand to do, and He will bless you in the land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you.
9 YEHOWAH will establish you as a holy people unto Himself, as He has sworn unto you, if you keep the commandments of YEHOWAH your Elohim, and walk in His ways.
10 And all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the Name of YEHOWAH, and they will fear you.
11 And YEHOWAH will make you abound in good; in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your beasts, and in the fruit of the earth, in the land that YEHOWAH swore to your fathers to give you.
12 And YEHOWAH will open for you His good storehouse from heaven; to give rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend to many nations, and you shall not borrow.
13 And YEHOWAH will make you the head and not the tail; above all and underneath none, if you hear the commandments of YEHOWAH your Elohim, which I command you today, to keep and do them.
14 And do not turn aside from any of the words that I command you this day; neither to the right or to the left, to go after other elohim to serve them.
15 But it shall come to pass, if you do not hear YEHOWAH your Elohim, to keep and do all His commandments and His statutes, with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:
16 Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country.
17 Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading trough.
18 Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your earth, and the increase of your herds and the increase of your flocks.
19 Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out.
20 YEHOWAH will send upon you curses, destruction and rebuke, in all you undertake to do, until you are destroyed, and until you perish quickly, on account of the evil of your deeds, because you have forsaken Me.
21 YEHOWAH will make the pestilence cleave to you until He has consumed you from the land where you go to possess it.
22 YEHOWAH will smite you with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with extreme burning, and with the sword, and with drought, and with mildew, and they will pursue you until you perish.
23 The heaven that is over you shall be brass, and the earth that is under you, iron.
24 And YEHOWAH will make the rain of your land powder and dust; from heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed.
25 And YEHOWAH shall cause you to be defeated before your enemies.  You will go out one way against them, but you will flee seven ways before them.  And you will be an example of terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.
26 And your carcasses will be food to all birds of the sky, and to the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.
27 YEHOWAH will smite you with the boils of Egypt, and with tumors, and with scabs, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed.
28 And YEHOWAH will smite you with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart.
29 And you will grope at noontime, as the blind grope in darkness, and you will not prosper in your ways, but you shall only be oppressed and spoiled continually, with none to save you.
30 You shall betroth a wife, but another man will violate her.  You shall build a house, but you will not dwell in it.  You shall plant a vineyard, but you will not eat its fruit.
31 Your ox shall be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat of it.  Your ass shall be snatched away from you, and will not be brought back to you.  Your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you will have none to deliver you.
32 Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, while your eyes look on and yearn for them all the day long, but there will be no power in your hand.
33 The fruit of your land, and all your labors, shall a nation that you do not know consume, and you shall only be oppressed and crushed continually,
34 so that you shall be made insane by the sight of what you see.
35 YEHOWAH will strike you on the knees and legs with sore ulcers, from which you cannot be healed; from the sole of your foot to the crown of your head.
36 YEHOWAH will bring you and your king, whom you set over you, to a nation that neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other elohim; wood and stone.
37 You shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a taunt among all the people where YEHOWAH drives you.
38 You shall carry much seed out to the field, but you will gather in little, for the locust will consume it.
39 You shall plant and till vineyards, but you will neither drink the wine nor gather the grapes, for the worms will devour them.
40 You shall have olive trees throughout your territory, but you will not anoint yourself with the oil, for your olive trees will cast off their fruit.
41 You shall have sons and daughters, but you will not enjoy them, for they will go into captivity,
42 and all the trees and the fruit of the land shall the locust possess.
43 The stranger who is among you shall rise above you higher and higher, but you will go down lower and lower.
44 And they will lend to you, but you will not lend to them; they will be the head, and you will be the tail.
45 And all these curses shall come upon you, and pursue you, and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you would not obey YEHOWAH your Elohim, by keeping His commandments and His statutes that He commanded you.
46 And they shall become a sign and a wonder on you, and your seed forever,
47 because you did not serve YEHOWAH your Elohim with joyfulness and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything.
48 Therefore, you shall serve your enemies whom YEHOWAH will send against you; in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in the lack of all things.  And He will put an iron yoke on your neck, until He has destroyed you.
49 YEHOWAH will bring a nation against you from afar; from the end of the earth; as the eagle flies; a nation whose language you shall not understand;
50 a nation of fierce countenance who will have no respect for the old, nor show favor to the young.
51 And they shall eat the fruit of your cattle, and the fruit of your ground, until you are destroyed; who also leave you no grain, new wine, or oil, nor the increase of your herd or the young of your flock, until they have caused you to perish.
52 They shall besiege you in all your cities until your high and fortified walls, in which you trusted, come down throughout your land.  And they shall besiege you in all your cities throughout your land that YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you.
53 And in the siege, and in the confinement with which your enemy will oppress you, you shall eat the fruit of your own body; the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, whom YEHOWAH your Elohim has given you.
54 And the man who is tender-hearted, and very delicate among you, shall be hostile toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children who remain,
55 so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children that he will eat, since he has nothing left to him in the siege and the confinement by which your enemy will oppress you in all your cities.
56 The tender-hearted and delicate woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and refinement, shall be hostile toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son and daughter,
57 and toward her young one, which comes out from between her legs, and toward her children whom she bears; for she will secretly eat them for lack of anything else, during the siege and the confinement by which your enemy will oppress you in your cities.
58 If you will not take heed to do all the words of this law, which are written in this book, to fear this Glorious and Fearful Name, YEHOWAH YOUR ELOHIM,
59 then YEHOWAH will bring surpassing plagues upon you and your seed, even great and lasting plagues, and evil and persistent sicknesses.
60 And He will bring upon you all the diseases of Egypt, which you feared, and they will cling to you.
61 Also every sickness and every plague which is not written in the book of this law; YEHOWAH will bring upon you until you are destroyed,
62 and you shall be left few in number; whereas you were as numerous as the stars of heaven, because you did not obey YEHOWAH your Elohim.
63 And it shall come to pass, that as YEHOWAH delighted over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so YEHOWAH will delight over you to destroy you and make you perish, and you will be torn from the land where you are entering to possess it.
64 And YEHOWAH will scatter you among all peoples; from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth, and there you shall serve other elohim, which neither you nor your fathers have known; wood and stone.
65 And among those nations shall you find no rest, and there will be no resting place for the sole of your foot.  And there YEHOWAH will give you a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and despair of soul.
66 And your life shall hang in doubt before you, and you will be in fear night and day, and shall have no assurance of your life.
67 In the morning you shall say, ‘Would that it were evening!’ And at evening you shall say, ‘Would that it were morning!’ Because of the fear of your heart, with which you fear, and for the sight of your eyes, which you will see.
68 And YEHOWAH will bring you back to Egypt in ships; by the way about which I spoke to you, ‘You will never see it again!’  And there you will offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but there shall be no buyer.”

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 29

DEUTERONOMY: CHAPTER 29

These are the words of the covenant that YEHOWAH commanded Moses to make with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant that He had made with them at Horeb.
2 And Moses called all Israel and said to them, “You have seen all that YEHOWAH did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and all his servants and all his land;
3 the great trials that your eyes have seen; those great signs and wonders.
4 But to this day, YEHOWAH has not given you a heart to know, or eyes to see, or ears to hear,
5 for I have led you forty years in the wilderness, and your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn out on your foot.
6 You have not eaten bread, nor have you drunk wine or strong drink, in order that you might know YEHOWAH your Elohim.
7 When you reached this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out to meet us for battle, but we defeated them.
8 And we took their land, and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manasseh.
9 Keep therefore, the words of this covenant; to do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.
10 You stand this day, all of you, before YEHOWAH your Elohim; your chiefs of your tribes; your elders and your officers, even all the men of Israel;
11 your little ones; your wives, and the stranger who is within your camps; from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water,
12 that you may enter into the covenant with YEHOWAH your Elohim, and into His oath which YEHOWAH your Elohim is making with you today,
13 in order that He may establish you today as His people, and that He may be your Elohim; just as He spoke to you, and as He swore to your fathers; to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
14 Neither with you alone am I making this covenant and this oath,
15 but with those who stand here with us today in the presence of YEHOWAH our Elohim, and with those who are not with us here today,
16 (for you know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed,
17 and you have seen their abominations and their idols of wood, stone, silver, and gold, that they had with them);
18 lest there should be among you a man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from YEHOWAH our Elohim, to go and serve the elohim of those nations; that there will not be among you a root bearing poisonous fruit and wormwood.
19 And it shall come to pass, when they hear the words of this curse, that they will boast, saying, ‘I have peace though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to add drunkenness to the thirst.’
20 YEHOWAH will not spare them, but rather the anger of YEHOWAH, and His jealousy, will burn against that person, and every curse that is written in this book will rest on them, and YEHOWAH will blot out their name from under heaven.
21 And YEHOWAH will single them out for evil from all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law.
22 Now the generation to come; your children who rise up after you, and the foreigner who comes from a distant land, when they see the plagues of the land and the diseases with which YEHOWAH has afflicted it, will say,
23 ‘The whole land is brimstone and salt and burning; not sown, not bearing, and no grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim, which YEHOWAH overthrew in His anger and in His wrath.’
24 All the nations will say, ‘Why has YEHOWAH done thus to this land? Why this great burning wrath?’
25 And men will say, ‘Because they have forsaken the covenant of YEHOWAH, the Elohim of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt,
26 for they went and served other elohim and worshiped them; elohim that they have not known and that He had not allotted to them.
27 Therefore, the wrath of YEHOWAH was kindled against this land, to bring upon it every curse that is written in this book.
28 And YEHOWAH rooted them out from their land in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.’
29 The secret things belong to YEHOWAH our Elohim, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 30

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 30

And it shall come to pass, when all of these things have come upon you; the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you take them to heart in all the nations where YEHOWAH your Elohim has banished you,
2 and you return to YEHOWAH your Elohim, and shall hear His voice according to all that I command you this day; you and your children, with all your heart and soul,
3 then YEHOWAH your Elohim will turn back your captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the nations where YEHOWAH your Elohim has scattered you.
4 Though there were any of you driven out to the ends of the earth, even from there YEHOWAH your Elohim will gather you, and from there He will bring you back.
5 And YEHOWAH your Elohim will bring you into the land that your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it, and He will do you good and multiply you above your fathers.
6 And YEHOWAH your Elohim will circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love YEHOWAH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.
7 And YEHOWAH your Elohim will put all these curses upon your enemies, and upon those who hate you; who persecuted you.
8 And you shall again hear YEHOWAH, and do all His commandments that I command you today.
9 And YEHOWAH your Elohim will make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body and in the fruit of your cattle, and in the produce of your ground, for YEHOWAH will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers;
10 if you hear YEHOWAH your Elohim to do His commandments and His statutes that are written in this book of the law; if you turn to YEHOWAH your Elohim with all your heart and soul.
11 For this commandment that I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it remote.
12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may do it?’
13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may do it?’
14 But the word is very near you; in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.
15 See, I have set before you this day life and good, or death and evil;
16 in that I command you today to love YEHOWAH your Elohim, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that YEHOWAH your Elohim may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.
17 But if your heart turns away and you will not hear, but are drawn away and worship other elohim and serve them,
18 I denounce to you this day that you shall surely perish.  You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it.
19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death; the blessing and the curse.  Choose then life, that you may live; you and your seed;
20 by loving YEHOWAH your Elohim; by hearing His voice; and by cleaving to Him, for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land that YEHOWAH swore to your fathers; to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; to give them.”

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 31

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 31

And Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel,
2 And he said to them, “I am a hundred and twenty years old this day; I am no longer able to come and go, and YEHOWAH has said to me, ‘You shall not cross this Jordan.’
3 YEHOWAH your Elohim, it is He Who will cross ahead of you; He will destroy these nations before you, and you shall possess them.  Yehshua, he shall cross over before you, just as YEHOWAH has spoken.
4 And YEHOWAH will do to them just as He did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, when He destroyed them.
5 YEHOWAH will deliver them up before you, and you shall do to them according to all the commandments that I have commanded you.
6 Be strong and courageous, fear not, nor tremble at them, for YEHOWAH your Elohim, He is the one Who goes with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you.”
7 And Moses called to Yehshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land that YEHOWAH has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance.
8 YEHOWAH is the One Who goes ahead of you; He will be with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you.  Fear not, nor be dismayed.”
9 So Moses wrote this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the covenant of YEHOWAH, and to all the elders of Israel.
10 And Moses commanded them, saying, “At the end of seven years, at the time of the year of remission of debts, at the Feast of Booths,
11 when all Israel comes to appear before YEHOWAH your Elohim, at the place that He will choose, you shall read this law in front of all Israel in their hearing.
12 Assemble the people; the men and the women and children and the stranger who is in your city, so that they may hear and learn and fear YEHOWAH your Elohim, and be careful to observe all the words of this law.
13 And their children, who have not known, will hear and learn to fear YEHOWAH your Elohim, as long as you live on the land that you are about to cross over the Jordan to possess.”
14 Then YEHOWAH said to Moses, “Behold, the day approaches for you to die; call Yehshua, and present yourselves at the tent of meeting, that I may give him charge.” So Moses and Yehshua went and presented themselves at the tent of meeting.
15 And YEHOWAH appeared in the tent in a pillar of cloud, and the pillar of cloud stood at the doorway of the tent.
16 And YEHOWAH said to Moses, “Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers, and this people will arise and play the harlot with the strange elohim of the land, into the midst of which they are going, and will forsake Me and break My covenant that I have made with them.
17 And My anger will be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them and hide My face from them.  And they will be consumed, and many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, ‘Is it not because our Elohim is not among us that these evils have come upon us?’
18 But I will surely hide My face in that day, because of all the evil that they will do, for they will turn to other elohim.
19 Now therefore, write this song for yourselves, and teach it to the sons of Israel; put it on their lips, so that this song may be a witness for Me against the sons of Israel.
20 For when I bring them into the land flowing with milk and honey, that I swore to their fathers, and they have eaten and are satisfied and become prosperous, then they will turn to other elohim and serve them, and spurn Me and break My covenant.
21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles have come upon them, that this song will testify before them as a witness (for it shall not be forgotten from the lips of their seed), for I know the intent that they have today, before I have brought them into the land that I swore.”
22 So Moses wrote this song that same day, and taught it to the children of Israel.
23 And He commissioned Yehshua the son of Nun, and said, “Be strong and courageous, for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land that I swore to them, and I will be with you.”
24 And it came to pass, when Moses finished writing the words of this law in a book, until they were complete,
25 that Moses commanded the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of YEHOWAH, saying,
26 “Take this book of the law and place it inside the ark of the covenant of YEHOWAH your Elohim, that it may remain there as a witness against you,
27 for I know your rebellion and your stiff neck; for behold, while I am still alive with you today, you have been rebellious against YEHOWAH; how much more, then, after my death?
28 Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call the heavens and the earth to witness against them,
29 for I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves and turn from the way that I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days, for you will do that which is evil in the sight of YEHOWAH, provoking Him to anger with the work of your hands.”
30 Then Moses spoke in the ears of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were complete:

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 32

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 32

“Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew; as the small rain drops on the tender herbs, and as the showers on the grass.
3 For I proclaim the Name of YEHOWAH; ascribe greatness to our Elohim!
4 The Rock! His work is perfect, for all His ways are just; an El of truth and without iniquity; just and right is He.
5 They have dealt corruptly with Him; their defect is not of His children, for they are a perverse and crooked generation.
6 Do you thus serve YEHOWAH, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father Who has bought you; Who has made you and established you?
7 Remember the days of old; consider the years of all generations; ask your father, and he will inform you; your elders, and they will tell you,
8 when the Most High assigned to the nations their inheritance; when He separated the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the nations according to the number of the children of Israel.
9 For YEHOWAH’S portion is His people; Jacob is the lot of His inheritance.
10 He found him in a desert land, and in the howling waste of a wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.
11 As an eagle that stirs up its nest, and hovers over its young; spreads out its wings and carries them, and bears them on its wings;
12 YEHOWAH alone led him, and there was no foreign el with him.
13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, and he ate the increase of the field; and He made him suck honey from the crag, and oil from the flinty rock;
14 butter of cows, and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the best of the wheat; and you did drink pure wine, the blood of the grape.
15 But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked.  They are grown fat, and thick, and are covered, and they forsook Eloah Who made them, and scorned the Rock of their salvation.
16 They moved Him to jealousy with strange elohim; with abominations they provoked Him to anger.
17 They sacrificed to demons that were not Eloah; to elohim whom they have not known; new elohim who came near, whom your fathers did not dread.
18 You neglected the Rock Who begot you, and forgot the El Who gave you birth.
19 YEHOWAH saw this and abhorred, because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters.
20 And He said, ‘I will hide My face from them.  I will see what their end shall be, for they are a perverse generation; children in whom is no faithfulness.
21 They have moved Me to jealousy with what is not el; they have provoked Me to anger with their idols.  So I will make them jealous with that which is not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation,
22 for a fire is kindled in My anger, and burns to the lowest part of hell, and consumes the earth and its fruit, and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23 I will heap evil upon them; My arrows will I spend on them.
24 They will be burnt by famine, devoured by burning heat, and with bitter destruction; and the teeth of beasts I will send upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.
25 From without the sword will bereave, and from within terror shall destroy the young man and the virgin, the nursling and the man of gray hair.
26 I would say, “I will scatter them to the corners, I will remove the memory of them from men;
27 were it not that I dreaded the spite of their enemies; that their adversaries would misjudge and say, ‘Our hand is triumphant; YEHOWAH has not done all this.'”
28 For they are a nation void in counsel and there is no understanding in them.
29 O, that they were wise; that they understood this; that they would discern their future!
30 How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and YEHOWAH had shut them up?
31 For their rock is not like our Rock; even our enemies themselves judge this.
32 For their vine is from the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah.  Their grapes are grapes of poison; bitter are their clusters.
33 Their wine is the venom of serpents, and the deadly poison of asps.
34 ‘Is it not laid up in store with Me, sealed up in My treasuries?
35 Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot shall slip in due time, for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.’
36 For YEHOWAH will judge His people, and will console His servants when He sees that their strength is gone, and there is none shut up or left.
37 And He will say, ‘Where are their elohim; the rock in which they sought refuge?
38 Which ate the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise up and help you, and be your protection!
39 See now that I, I am He, and there is no elohim besides Me; it is I who kill, and I give life.  I have wounded, and it is I who heal, and there is no one who can deliver from My hand.
40 For I lift up My hand to heaven, and say, “I live forever”!
41 If I sharpen My flashing sword, and My hand takes hold of judgment, I will render vengeance upon My adversaries, and I will recompense they who hate Me.
42 I will make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword will devour flesh; with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenge upon the enemy.
43 Rejoice, O nations, with His people,; for He will avenge the blood of His servants, and will render vengeance on His adversaries, and will atone for His land and His people.”
44 And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people; he, with Yehshua the son of Nun.
45 And Moses made an end to speaking all these words to all Israel,
46 saying to them, “Take to your heart all the words with which I am witnessing to you this day, which you shall command your sons to take heed to do; even all the words of this law.
47 For it is not empty talk for you, indeed it is your life.  And by this word you will prolong your days in the land which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.”
48 And YEHOWAH spoke to Moses that very same day, saying,
49 “Go up to this mountain of the Abarim; Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan that I have given to the children of Israel for a possession.
50 Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor, and was gathered to his people,
51 because you trespassed against Me in the midst of the children of Israel, at the waters of Meribah, in the wilderness of Zin; because you did not proclaim Me in the midst of the children of Israel.
52 For you shall see the land before you, but you shall not go there, into the land that I have given the children of Israel.”

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 33

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 33

And this is the blessing with which Moses the man of Elohim blessed the children of Israel before his death.
2 He said, “YEHOWAH came from Sinai, and rose upon them from Seir; He shined forth from Mount Paran, and He came from a myriad of Holy Ones; from His right hand was a fiery law from them.
3 Indeed, He loves the people; all Your saints are in Your hand, and they encamp at Your feet, receiving Your words.
4 Moses charged us with a law; the possession of the assembly of Jacob.
5 And He was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people were gathered; the tribes of Israel were gathered together.
6 May Reuben live and not die, nor his men be few.”
7 And this regarding Yehudah; so he said, “Hear YEHOWAH, the voice of Yehudah, and bring him to His people.  With His hands he contended for them, and may You be a help against his adversaries.”
8 Of Levi he said, “Let Your Thummim and Your Urim belong to Your pious one, whom You proved at Massah, with whom You contended at the waters of Meribah;
9 who said of his father and his mother, ‘I did not consider them’; and he did not acknowledge his brothers, nor did he regard his own children, for they observed Your word, and kept Your covenant.
10 They shall teach Jacob Your judgments, and Your law to Israel.  They shall put incense before You, and whole burnt offerings upon Your altar.
11 Bless his substance, O YEHOWAH, and accept the work of his hands.  Strike through the loins of those who rise up against him, and those who hate him, so that they will not rise again.”
12 Of Benyehmin he said, “May the beloved of YEHOWAH dwell safely by Him, Who shields him all the day long, and he dwells between His shoulders.”
13 Of Yehoseph he said, “Blessed of YEHOWAH be his land; with the precious fruit of heaven; with the dew, and from the deep lying beneath,
14 and with the precious fruit of the sun, and with the precious produce of the months.
15 And with the best things of the ancient mountains, and with the precious things of the everlasting hills,
16 and with the precious things of the earth and its fullness, and the favor of Him Who dwelt in the bush.  Let it come to the head of Yehseph, and to the crown of the head of the one distinguished among his brothers.
17 His majesty is as the firstborn of his ox, and his horns are the horns of the wild bull; with them he will push the peoples, all at once, to the ends of the earth.  And those are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and those are the thousands of Manasseh.”
18 Of Zebulun he said, “Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going forth, and Issachar, in your tents.
19 They will call peoples to the mountain, and there they will offer righteous sacrifices, for they will draw out the abundance of the seas, and the hidden treasures of the sand.”
20 Of Gad he said, “Blessed is the one who enlarges Gad; he lies down as a lion, and tears the arm, even the crown of the head.
21 And he provided the first part for himself, for there the lawgiver’s portion was reserved; and he came with the leaders of the people; the justice of YEHOWAH, and His judgments he executed with Israel.”
22 Of Dan he said, “Dan is a lion’s whelp, he shall leap forth from Bashan.”
23 Of Naphtali he said, “O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full of the blessing of YEHOWAH, take possession of the west and the south.”
24 Of Asher he said, “Let Asher be blessed with children, and may he be favored by his brothers, and may he dip his foot in oil.
25 Your shoes will be iron and brass, and according to your days, so will your strength be.
26 There is none like the El of Jeshurun, Who rides the heavens to your help, and through the skies in His majesty.
27 The eternal Elohim is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; and He drove out the enemy from before you, and said, ‘Destroy!’
28 So Israel shall dwell securely; the fountain of Jacob secluded in a land of grain and new wine; His heavens also drop down dew.
29 How happy are you, O Israel? Who is like you, a people saved by YEHOWAH, Who is the shield of your help, and the sword of your majesty!  So your enemies will cringe before you, and you will tread upon their high places.”

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 34

DEUTERONOMY:  CHAPTER 34

And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo; to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho.  And YEHOWAH showed him all the land:  Gilead as far as Dan,
2 and all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Yehudah as far as the utmost sea,
3 and the south country and the plain of the valley of Jericho; the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar.
4 Then YEHOWAH said to him, “This is the land that I swore unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your seed’.  I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there.”
5 So Moses the servant of YEHOWAH died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of YEHOWAH.
6 And He buried him in the valley, in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day.
7 And Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died; his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days; then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses came to an end.
9 And Yehshua the son of Nun was filled with The Spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands upon him.  And the sons of Israel listened to him and did as YEHOWAH had commanded Moses.
10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom YEHOWAH knew face to face;
11 for all the signs and wonders that YEHOWAH sent him to do in the land of Egypt against Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,
12 and for all the mighty power, and for all the great terror that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
