Obadiyeh

OBADIYEH

OBADIYEH – (Obadiah):

The vision of Obadiyeh:  Thus says Adonay YEHOWAH concerning Edom; hear this report from YEHOWAH, “A messenger is sent among the nations saying, ‘Rise up, and let us rise against her in battle.’
Behold, I have made you small among the nations, and greatly despised.
The pride of your heart has deceived you; you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, who says in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’
Though you exalt yourself as an eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” declares YEHOWAH.
“If thieves come upon you; robbers by night (O how you will be destroyed!), will they steal only until they have enough? If grape gatherers come to you, will they not leave gleanings?
But O how Esau will be searched; his hidden treasures sought!
All the men of your confederacy will send you to the border, and the men at peace with you will deceive you and overpower you.  Those who eat your bread will set an ambush for you.  There is no understanding in him!
Will I not on that day,” declares YEHOWAH, “Destroy wise men from Edom and understanding from the mountains of Esau?
And your mighty men will be dismayed, O Teman, to the end that everyone may be cut off from the mountains of Esau by slaughter.
Because of violence to your brother Jacob, shame will cover you, and you will be cut off forever.
On the day that you stood aloof, above him; on the day that strangers carried off his wealth, and foreigners entered his gate and cast lots for Jerusalem, you too were as one of them.
You should not have gazed on the day of your brother; on the day of his calamity.  Nor should you have rejoiced over the children of Yehudah on the day of their destruction. Neither should you have spoken proudly on the day of their distress.
You should not have entered the gate of My people on the day of their calamity, nor should you have gazed at their misery on the day of their calamity, nor have looted their wealth on the day of their calamity.
Neither should you have stood at the crossroads to destroy their fugitives, or delivered up those who survived on the day of their distress.
For the day of YEHOWAH draws near upon all the nations, and as you have done, it will be done to you.  Your recompense will return on your own head.
For as you drank upon My holy mountain, all the nations will drink continually.  Yes, they will drink and swallow, and be as though they had never existed.
But upon Mount Zion there will be deliverance, and there will be holiness, and the house of Jacob will possess their possessions.
And the house of Jacob will be a fire, and the house of Yehseph will be a flame, and the house of Esau will be for stubble.  And they will set them on fire and consume them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau,” for YEHOWAH has spoken.
And those of the south will possess the mountains of Esau, and those of the plains the Philistines, and they will also possess the territory of Ephraim and the territory of Samaria, and Benyehmin will possess Gilead.
And the captives of this host of the children of Israel, who are among the Canaanites as far as Zarephath, and the captives from Jerusalem who are in Shepharad, will possess the cities of the south country.
And the Deliverer will ascend Mount Zion to judge the mountain of Esau, and the kingdom will be YEHOWAH’S.
