1 PETER:  CHAPTER 1

1 PETER:  CHAPTER 1

Peter, an apostle of YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, to those who reside as strangers, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 who are chosen according to the foreknowledge of El the Father, through the sanctifying work of The Holy Spirit unto obedience, and the sprinkling of the Blood of YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach,  Grace and peace be multiplied unto you.
3 Blessed be the El and Father of our Master, YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, Who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope, through the resurrection of YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach from the dead,
4 to an inheritance which is incorruptible and undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are guarded by the power of Elohim through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved through various trials,
7 so that the trustworthiness of your faith, being more precious than gold, which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and honor and glory at the revealing of YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach;
8 Whom having not seen, you love, in Whom, though you do not see Him, but believing, you greatly rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory,
9 receiving as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 Now as to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, made careful searches and inquiries,
11 seeking to know what person or time The Spirit of the Messiah within them was indicating, as He predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories to follow.
12 And it was revealed to them that they were not ministering to themselves, but to you, in these things which now have been declared to you, through those who preached the gospel to you, by The Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven.  Things into which angels long to look.
13 Therefore, gird up the loins of your minds.  Be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach.
14 As obedient children, do not conform to the former lusts, which were yours in your ignorance,
15 but as He Who has called you is holy, so you too be holy in every manner of behavior,
16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” 1
17 If you call upon the Father, Who impartially judges according to each person’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear,
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold; from vain conversations received by tradition from your fathers,
19 but with the precious Blood of the Messiah, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot,
20 Who truly was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 who through Him do believe in Elohim, Who raised Him from the dead, and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope would be in Elohim.
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through The Spirit unto sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart,
23 for you have been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of Elohim, which lives and abides forever.
24 For, “All flesh is grass, and all its goodliness is as the flower of the field.  The grass withers, the flower fades,”
25 “but the Word of our Elohim will stand forever.”2 & 3   And this is the word that was preached to you.

1 PETER:  CHAPTER 2

1 PETER:  CHAPTER 2

Therefore, putting away all malice, and all deceit, and hypocrisy, and envy, and all slander,
2 like newborn babes, long for the sincere milk of the Word, so that by it you may grow,
3 if indeed you have tasted the grace of the Master;
4 to Whom we come, as unto a living stone, which has been rejected by mankind, but chosen and precious in the sight of Elohim.
5 You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house; a holy priesthood; to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to Elohim through YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach.
6 For it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation.  Those who believe will not be disappointed.” 4
7 Unto you therefore, who believe, He is precious, but unto those who disbelieve, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief stone of the corner”, 5
8 and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”,for they stumble on the Word, being disobedient to the Word; and to this also they were appointed.
9 But, “You shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation; a people for Elohim’s own possession,” so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him Who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 7, 8
10 for you once were, “Not My people,” but now, “You are the children of the living El”; you had “Not obtained mercy;” but now you have “Received mercy.” 9, 10
11 Dearly beloved, I implore you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.
12 Keep your behavior distinguished among the Gentiles, so that in whatever they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good deeds, which they shall observe, glorify Elohim in the day of visitation.
13 Submit yourselves for the Master’s sake to every human ordinance, whether it be to a king, as supreme,
14 or to governors, as sent by Him for the punishment of evildoers, and the praise of those who do well.
15 For such is the will of Elohim, that by doing well you may silence the ignorance of the foolish.
16 Without restraint, but not using your liberty as a cloak for evil, but as the servants of Elohim,
17 honor all; love the brethren; revere Elohim and honor the king.
18 Servants, submit yourselves to your lord’s with all fear, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to the perverse,
19 for this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward Elohim, a person endures grief and suffering unjustly.
20 For what glory is there if, when you sin and are buffeted, you endure it with patience? But if when you do well and suffer, you patiently endure it, this finds favor with Elohim.
21 For this purpose you have been called, because Messiah also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that we should follow in His steps;
22 Who committed no sin, neither was any deceit found in His mouth;
23 Who, while being reviled, reviled not in return, and while suffering, uttered no threats, but committed Himself to Him Who judges righteously;
24 Who Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness, by Whose stripes we were healed.
25 For you were as sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

1 PETER:  CHAPTER 3

1 PETER:  CHAPTER 3

Likewise, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands, so that if any of them disobey the Word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives,
2 as they observe your chaste and reverent behavior.
3 Let not your adornment be merely outward; braiding the hair, or wearing gold, or investing in apparel,
4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart, in that which is incorruptible; with a humble and peaceable Spirit, which is very precious in the sight of Elohim.
5 For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in Elohim, adorned themselves, being in submission to their own husbands;
6 even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him, “lord”; whose daughters you have become, as long as you do well, and are reverent without any fear.
7 Likewise, you husbands, dwell with your wives in accord with knowledge, giving honor unto the wife as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
8 Finally, be like-minded, having compassion one of another; love as brethren, tender-hearted, courteous,
9 not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult, but contrary to this, giving a blessing instead; for you were called for this very purpose,  that you might inherit a blessing,
10 for, “The one who desires life and loves days, that they may see good, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceitfully.” 11
11 “And let them depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it”, 12
12 for, “The eyes of YEHOWAH are toward the righteous, and His ears are to their cry, but the face of YEHOWAH is against those that do evil.” 13
13 And who will harm you if you are imitators of that which is good?
14 But even if you do suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed.  Do not fear their terror, nor be troubled,
15 but sanctify the Master as Elohim in your hearts.  And always be ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you; yet with humility and reverence.
16 And keep a good conscience, so that in whatever it is that they slander you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed who falsely accuse your good behavior in the Messiah.
17 For it is better, if the will of Elohim be so, that you suffer for doing what is good, rather than for doing what is evil,
18 for Messiah also has once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to Elohim, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in The Spirit;
19 in Whom also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison,
20 who in time past were disobedient, when the patience of Elohim waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which eight people were saved by water.
21 Which is representative unto baptism, that now saves us; not in the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the demand of a good conscience toward Elohim, through the resurrection of YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach,
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is at the right hand of Elohim; with angels and authorities and powers being subjected unto Him.

1 PETER:  CHAPTER 4

1 PETER:  CHAPTER 4

Forasmuch then as Messiah has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for those who have suffered in the flesh have ceased from sin,
2 so that they no longer live the rest of their time in the flesh, to the lusts of humanity, but to the will of Elohim.
3 For may the time of our life already past be sufficient for us to have carried out the desires of the Gentiles – when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries.
4 And in all this they think it strange that we do not run with them to the same excess of dissipation; speaking evil of us.
5 But they will give account to Him Who is ready to judge the living and the dead,
6 for to this cause was the gospel preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as humans, they may live according to Elohim in The Spirit.
7 But the end of all things is at hand.  Therefore, be of sound mind, soberly watching unto prayer.
8 And above all things, keep unending love toward one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.
9 Be hospitable to one another without grudging.
10 As each one has received a miraculous gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of Elohim.
11 If anyone speaks, as one uttering the oracles of Elohim; if anyone serves, as one who is serving by the strength that Elohim supplies; in all things may Elohim be glorified through YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, to Whom be praise and dominion forever and ever.  Amen!
12 Beloved, do not think it strange that a fiery trial is among you to try you, as though something novel has happened to you,
13 but rejoice to the proportion that you share in the suffering of Messiah; so that when His glory is revealed, you may rejoice also with exceeding joy.
14 If you are reviled for the Name of Messiah, you are blessed, because The Spirit of glory, and of Elohim, rests upon you.  On their part He is reviled, but on your part He is glorified.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters,
16 but if anyone suffers as a follower of Messiah, let them not be ashamed, but let them glorify Elohim on this behalf.
17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of Elohim, and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of Elohim?
18 And if the righteous are saved with difficulty, what will become of the wicked and the sinner?
19 Therefore, let those who suffer according to the will of Elohim, entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.

1 PETER:  CHAPTER 5

1 PETER:  CHAPTER 5

I exhort the elders who are among you, as a fellow elder, and as a witness of the sufferings of Messiah, and also a partaker of the glory that is to be revealed,
2 feed the flock of Elohim among you, taking oversight not under compulsion, but willfully; and not for sordid gain, but willingly;
3 and not as lording it over His inheritance, but being examples to the flock.
4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive an unfading crown of glory.
5 Likewise you younger, submit yourselves unto the elders.  Yes, all being subject one to another; and be clothed with humility, for Elohim is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore, under the mighty hand of Elohim, that He may exalt you in due time;
7 casting all your cares upon Him, because He cares for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, is as a roaring lion, prowling about, seeking whom he may devour.
9 But resist him steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
10 But the Elohim of all grace, Who has called us unto His eternal glory by Messiah YEHOSHUA, after which you have suffered for a while, will Himself perfect, establish, strengthen and erect you.
11 To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.  Amen!
12 By Silvanus, our faithful brother unto you, as I regard him, I have written briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of Elohim.  Stand firm in it.
13 She who is in Babylon, elected together with you, salutes you, as does Marcus my son.
14 Greet one another with a kiss of love.  Peace be with all who are in Messiah YEHOSHUA,  Amen!
