2 PETER:  CHAPTER 1

2 PETER:  CHAPTER 1

Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us, through the righteousness of our Elohim and Deliverer, YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach.
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of Elohim, and of  YEHOSHUA our Master,
3 in that manner as His divine power has given unto us all things pertaining to life and piety, through the knowledge of Him Who called us to glory and excellence.
4 For by these He has given unto us exceedingly great and precious promises, so that by these we might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence; add to your faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge;
6 and to your knowledge, self-control; and to your self-control, patient endurance; and to your patient endurance, reverence;
7 and to your reverence, brotherly kindness; and to your brotherly kindness, love.
8 For if these things are in you, and are increasing, they make you neither useless nor unfruitful in the full knowledge of our Master YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach.
9 But they who lack these things are blind or short-sighted, having forgotten that they were purged from their old sins.
10 Therefore, rather, brethren, be diligent to make your calling and election sure.  For if you do these things, you will never fall.
11 For in this way an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Deliverer YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach.
12 Therefore, I will not be negligent to always put you in remembrance of these things, even though you know them, and are established in the present truth.
13 I consider it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance,
14 knowing that shortly I must put off this body, even as our Master YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach has shown me.
15 Moreover I will endeavor that you may be able after my passing, to have these things always in remembrance.
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised tales, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Master YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.
17 For He received from El the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to Him from the Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son in Whom I am well-pleased.”1
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
19 So we have also a more sure word of prophecy, to which you do well to take heed; as unto a light that shines in a dark place; until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts.
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
21 for the prophecy came in old times not by the will of man, but holy men of Elohim, spoke as they were moved by The Holy Spirit.

2 PETER:  CHAPTER 2

2 PETER:  CHAPTER 2

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies; even denying the Master Who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
2 Many will follow their pernicious ways, and because of them the way of the truth will be defamed,
3 and through their greed, with fictitious words, will exploit you.  Their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
4 For if Elohim did not spare the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness to be reserved for judgment;
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the irreverent;
6 and if He turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemning them with an overthrow, and making them an example unto those that afterward would live irreverently;
7 and if He delivered righteous Lot, oppressed by the lascivious behavior of the wicked,
8 (for that righteous man, while dwelling among them, by what he saw and heard, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds);
9 then the Master knows how to deliver the reverent from temptations, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment;
10 and especially those who indulge the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise authority.  Presumptuous and self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities,
11 whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a railing accusation against them before the Master.
12 But these, like natural, unreasonable beasts, made to be taken and killed, speak evil of the things that they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption;
13 and will receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime.  They are spots and blemishes, reveling in their own deceitfulness, while they feast with you;
14 having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; enticing unstable souls; having a heart trained in covetous practices; accursed children.
15 Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, following the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness,
16 but was rebuked for his own transgression.  For a dumb ass, speaking with a human’s voice, restrained the madness of the prophet.2
17 These are wells without water, and clouds driven by a storm, for whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever,
18 for when they speak insolent words of vanity, they entice through the lusts of the flesh, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error,
19 promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption.  For by whatsoever a person is overcome, by the same they are enslaved!
20 For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Master and Deliverer, YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, they are again entangled in them, and are overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”3

2 PETER:  CHAPTER 3

2 PETER:  CHAPTER 3

This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you, in which I am stirring up your pure minds by way of reminder,
2 that you may be mindful of the words that were spoken beforehand by the holy prophets, and the commandment of us, the apostles of our Master and Deliverer.
3 Knowing this first, that in the last days there will come mockers, walking after their own lusts,
4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue just as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
5 For indeed, in this they willingly show their ignorance.  For by the word of Elohim, the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was made out of water and by water,
6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being overflowed with water.
7 But the heavens and the earth, which now, by the same word, are being kept in store, reserved for fire against the Day of Judgment and the destruction of the irreverence of mankind.
8 But, beloved, do not be ignorant of this fact, that with the Master, one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day.
9 The Master is not slack about His promise, as some count slackness, but is patient toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Master will come like a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat.  The earth also, and its works, will be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things are to be destroyed, what manner of people ought we to be in sacred behavior and reverence,
12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of Elohim, in which the heavens will be destroyed by fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
13 But according to His promise, we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace; spotless and blameless,
15 and regard the patience of our Master as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given him, has written to you,
16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the unlearned and unstable pervert as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, beware, unless you also are led away with the error of the wicked, and fall from your own steadfastness.
18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Master and Deliverer YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach.  To Him be the glory, both now and forevermore.  Amen!
