GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 1

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 1

Paul, an apostle, not from men nor through any agency of mankind, but through YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, and El the Father, Who raised Him from the dead,
2 and all the brethren who are with me, to the churches of Galatia:
3 Grace to you, and peace from El our Father and our Master YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach,
4 Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of Elohim and our Father,
5 to whom be the glory forever and ever.  Amen.
6 I marvel that you are so quickly removed from Him Who called you into the grace of Messiah, for a different gospel,
7 which is not another, only there are some who are troubling you, desiring to pervert the gospel of Messiah.
8 But even though we, or an angel from heaven, preach to you a gospel other than that which we have preached to you, let them be accursed!
9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if anyone is preaching to you a gospel other than that which you have received, let them be accursed!
10 For do I now persuade mankind, or do I seek to please mankind? If I were still trying to please mankind, I would not be a servant of Messiah.
11 For I declare unto you, brethren, the gospel that was preached by me is not according to mankind.
12 For I neither received it from any human, nor was I taught it, but by the revelation of YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach.
13 For you have heard of my manner in time past as a Yehudi, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of Elohim, and ravaged it.
14 And I profited as a Yehudi beyond many of my own nation, being more excessively zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
15 But when Elohim, Who had set me apart from my mother’s womb, and called me through His grace, was pleased
16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood;
17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and remained with him fifteen days.
19 But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Master’s brother.
20 Now the things that I write to you, behold, before Elohim, I am not lying.
21 Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
22 And I was still unknown by face unto the churches of Yehudah, which were in Messiah;
23 but only, they heard, “He who persecuted us in times past, is now preaching the faith that he once destroyed.”
24 And they glorified Elohim because of me.

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 2

GALATIANS:   CHAPTER 2

Then fourteen years afterward, I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along also.
2 And I went up because of a revelation, and declared unto them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles; but privately to those of reputation, lest by any means, I should be running, or had run, in vain.
3 But not even Titus who was with me, although he was a Gentile, was compelled to be circumcised.
4 But it was because false brethren secretly brought it in, who came in secretly to spy out our liberty which we have in Messiah YEHOSHUA, in order to bring us into bondage.
5 To whom we did not yield in subjection; no, not even for an hour, so that the truth of the gospel might remain with you.
6 But from those who seemed to be of some repute, what they were matters not to me; Elohim accepts none with partiality; well, those of repute conferred nothing to me.
7 But on the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel of the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised,
8 for He Who effectually worked for Peter in apostleship to the circumcised, effectually worked for me also to the Gentiles;
9 and when James, Peter, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace given to me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised;
10 asking only that we remember the poor, the very thing I also am eager to do.
11 But when Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood in fault.
12 For before the coming of certain men from James, he ate with the Gentiles, but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those of the circumcision.
13 And the other Yehudi joined in his pretense, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.
14 But when I saw that they were not walking upright in the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in the presence of all, “If you, being a Yehudi, live like the Gentiles, and not like the Yehudi, why do you compel the Gentiles to live like Yehudi?
15 We are Yehudi by nature, and not sinners from among the Gentiles,
16 knowing that no human is justified by the works of the law.  But through faith in YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, even we have believed in YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, so that we might be justified by faith in Messiah, and not by the works of the law; since by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
17 But if, while seeking to be justified in Messiah, we ourselves also are found to be sinners, is Messiah then a minister of sin? Elohim forbid!
18 For if I build again the things that I have destroyed, I prove myself to be a transgressor.
19 For through the law I am dead to the law, so that I might live to Elohim.
20 I am crucified with Messiah; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Messiah lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of Elohim, Who loves me and gave Himself up for me.
21 I do not invalidate the grace of Elohim, for if righteousness comes through the law, then Messiah died in vain.”

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 3

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 3

O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you so that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach was publicly portrayed as crucified?
2 This only would I learn of you:  Did you receive The Holy Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing with faith?
3 Are you so foolish, having begun by The Holy Spirit, are you now made perfect by the flesh?
4 Have you suffered so many things in vain, if indeed it was in vain?
5 Does He who ministers to you with The Holy Spirit, and works miracles among you, do so by the works of the law, or by hearing with faith?
6 Even as Abraham believed Elohim, and it was accounted unto him as righteousness,
7 know for certain therefore, that it is those who are of faith, who are the children of Abraham.
8 And Scripture, foreseeing that Elohim would justify the Gentiles through faith, proclaimed this gospel beforehand to Abraham: “And in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed.” 1
9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham the believer.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed is the person who does not confirm the words of this law to do them.” 2
11 And that no one is justified by the law before Elohim is evident, for “The righteous will live by faith.” 3
12 However, the law is not of faith.  On the contrary, “If a person does them, they will live by them.” 4
13 Messiah redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”, 5
14 so that in Messiah YEHOSHUA the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of The Holy Spirit through faith.
15 Brethren, I speak in the manner of mankind:  Though it is only a human’s covenant, yet once confirmed, no one sets it aside or adds conditions to it.
16 Now to Abraham and his seed the promise was spoken.  He does not say, “And to seeds,” as to many, but rather to one, “And to your seed,” which is, Messiah.
17 And this I say:  The covenant that was confirmed beforehand by Elohim in Messiah is not annulled by the law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, in that it should make the covenant of no effect.
18 For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but Elohim gave it to Abraham by means of a promise.
19 Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained by angels through the hands of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.
20 Now a mediator acts not for one party only, whereas Elohim is One!
21 Is the law then against the promise of Elohim? Elohim forbid!  For if a law had been given which was able to give life, then righteousness certainly would have been based on law.
22 But Scripture has sealed all in sin, so that the promise by faith in YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach might be given to those who believe.
23 But before faith came, we were protected under the law, being sealed unto the faith that was later to be revealed.
24 Therefore, the law was our tutor unto Messiah, that we may be justified by faith.
25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
26 For you are all children of Elohim through faith in Messiah YEHOSHUA.
27 For as many of you as are baptized into Messiah have clothed yourselves with Messiah.
28 There is neither Yehudi nor Gentile, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Messiah YEHOSHUA.
29 And if you belong to Messiah, then you are Abraham’s seed; heirs according to the promise.

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 4

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 4

Now I say, as long as the heirs are children, they differ not from a slave, although they are owners of everything;
2 but they are under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father.
3 So also we; while we were children, were enslaved under the elemental things of the world.
4 But when the fullness of the time came, El sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as children.
6 And because we are children, Elohim has sent forth The Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!”
7 Therefore, you are no longer a servant, but a child; and if a child, then an heir of Elohim through Messiah.
8 However then, when you did not know Elohim, you were in bondage to those who by nature are not el’s.
9 But now that you have come to know Elohim, or rather to be known by Elohim, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and beggardly elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again?
10 You observe days, and months, and seasons, and years.
11 I fear for you, that perhaps I have labored over you in vain.
12 Brethren, I urge you, become like me, as I also am like you.  You have not injured me.
13 But you know that through infirmities of the flesh I preached the gospel to you the first time;
14 and my adversity, which was in my flesh, you did not despise or reject, but you received me as an angel of Elohim; as Messiah YEHOSHUA.
15 Where then is that sense of blessedness you had? For I testify that if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
16 So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
17 They zealously desire you, though not well; but they desire to shut you out, so that you will zealously desire them.
18 But it is always good to be zealously desired in a commendable way, and not only when I am present with you.
19 My little children, with whom I am again in labor until Messiah is formed in you,
20 I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice, for I am perplexed by you.
21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, do you not listen to the law?
22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bond-maid and one by the free-woman.
23 But the son by the bond-maid was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free-woman through the promise.
24 This is an allegory, for these are two covenants: one indeed from Mount Sinai, bearing unto bondage, which is Hagar.
25 Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, which is now in bondage with her children.
26 But the Jerusalem which is above is free; which is the mother of us all;
27 for it is written, “Shout for joy, O barren, you who did not bear; break forth into joyful singing, and cry aloud, you that did not travail with child; for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife.” 6
28 Now we, brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise.
29 But exactly like then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him born according to The Spirit; and so it is now also.
30 But what does Scripture say? “Drive out this handmaid and her son, for the son of this handmaid will not be an heir with the son of the free-woman.” 7
31 So then, brethren, we are not children of a bond-maid, but of the free-woman.

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 5

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 5

Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Messiah has set us free, and do not be ensnared again by a yoke of slavery.
2 Behold I, Paul, say to you, that if you receive circumcision, Messiah will be of no profit to you.
3 And I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is obligated to keep the whole law.
4 You have been severed from Messiah, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
5 For we through The Holy Spirit, wait for the hope of righteousness by faith,
6 for in YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.
7 You were running well, who hindered you that you should not obey the truth?
8 This persuasion is not from Him Who called you.
9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
10 I have confidence in you through the Master, that you will be no other wise minded; but the one who is troubling you will bear their judgment, whoever they are.
11 But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.
12 I wish that those who are troubling you would even be cut off,
13 for you were called unto liberty, brethren, only not a liberty of opportunity for the flesh; but through love serve one another.
14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement:  “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 8
15 But if you bite and devour one another, take heed that you are not consumed by one another.
16 But I say, walk by The Holy Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusts against The Holy Spirit, and The Holy Spirit against the flesh; for these oppose one another, so that you not do the things you desire.
18 But if you are led by The Holy Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are:  Adultery, fornication, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contention, jealousy, rage, strife, dissensions, heresies,
21 envying, murder, drunkenness, reveling, and such things like these, of which I warn you, just as I have warned you in the past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of Elohim.
22 But the fruit of The Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 humility and self-control; against such things there is no law.
24 And those who belong to Messiah have crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts.
25 If we live by The Holy Spirit, let us also walk by The Holy Spirit.
26 Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 6

GALATIANS:  CHAPTER 6

Brethren, if anyone is caught in a transgression, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of humility; looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.
2 Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Messiah.
3 For if anyone thinks they are something, when they are nothing, they deceive themselves.
4 But let each one examine their own work, and then they will have rejoicing in themselves alone, but not in regard to another.
5 For everyone will bear their own burden.
6 Let those who are taught the Word share all good things with the one who teaches them.
7 Be not deceived, Elohim is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this they will also reap.
8 For the one who sows to their flesh, will from the flesh reap corruption.  But the one who sows unto The Holy Spirit, will from The Holy Spirit reap eternal life.
9 And let us not weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not weary.
10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good unto all, but especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
11 You see how long a letter I have written to you with my own hand?
12 All those who desire to put on a good show in the flesh, try to compel you to be circumcised, only because they shall suffer persecution for the stake of Messiah.
13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised, so that they may boast in your flesh.
14 But Elohim forbid that I would boast, except in the cross of our Master, YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, through Whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
15 For in Messiah YEHOSHUA, neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision; but a new creature.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of Elohim.
17 From henceforth let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Master YEHOSHUA.
18 Brethren, the grace of our Master YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach be with your spirit.  Amen!
