HAGGAI:  CHAPTER 1

In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the Word of YEHOWAH by the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Yehudah, and to Yehshua the son of Yehzadak, the high priest, saying,
2 “Thus says YEHOWAH of hosts, ‘This people say, “The time is not come; the time that YEHOWAH’S house is to be repaired.”’”
3 Then the Word of YEHOWAH came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
4 “Is it time for you to dwell in your roofed houses, while this house lies desolate?”
5 Now therefore, thus says YEHOWAH of hosts, “Consider your ways!
6 You have sown much, but harvest little.  You eat, but are never satisfied.  You drink, but are never merry.  You clothe yourself, but are never warm.  And you earn wages, only to put those wages into a purse with holes.”
7 Thus says YEHOWAH of hosts, “Consider your ways!
8 Go up to the mountains, bring wood and repair the temple, and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified,” says YEHOWAH.
9 “You look for much, but behold, a little; and when you bring it home, I blow it away. Why?” asks YEHOWAH of hosts, “Because My house lies desolate while each of you runs to your own house.
10 Therefore, over you the heavens withhold their dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.
11 So I proclaimed a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground produces, on men, on cattle and on all the labor of your hands.”
12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Yehshua the son of Yehzadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, heard the voice of YEHOWAH their Elohim, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as YEHOWAH their Elohim had sent him.  And the people feared the face of YEHOWAH.
13 Then Haggai, YEHOWAH’S messenger, spoke this message of YEHOWAH to the people saying, “’I am with you,’ declares YEHOWAH.”
14 And YEHOWAH awakened the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Yehudah, and the spirit of Yehshua the son of Yehzadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came and worked on the temple of YEHOWAH of hosts, their Elohim,
15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.

HAGGAI:  CHAPTER 2

In the seventh month, on the twenty-first day of the month, the Word of YEHOWAH came by Haggai the prophet saying,
2 “Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Yehudah, and to Yehshua the son of Yehzadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people saying,
3 ‘Who remains among you that saw this temple in its former glory, and how do you see it now? Does it not seem as nothing in comparison?
4 Be courageous, Zerubbabel,’ declares YEHOWAH, ‘And be courageous, Yehshua son of Yehzadak, the high priest, and be courageous all the people of the land,’ declares YEHOWAH, ‘And work!  For I am with you,’ declares YEHOWAH of hosts.
5 ‘As for the covenant that I made you, when you came out of Egypt, My Spirit is abiding in your midst.  Fear not!’
6 For thus says YEHOWAH of hosts, ‘Yet once, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
7 And I will shake all the nations, and the delight of all the nations shall come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says YEHOWAH of hosts.
8 ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ declares YEHOWAH of hosts.
9 ‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says YEHOWAH of hosts, ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ declares YEHOWAH of hosts.”
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of YEHOWAH came to Haggai the prophet, saying,
11 “Thus says YEHOWAH of hosts, ‘Ask now the priests regarding the law:
12 If someone carries holy flesh in the fold of their garment, and touches bread, cooked food, wine, oil or any meat with this fold, will it too become holy?’” And the priests answered, saying, “No!”
13 Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean by a dead body touches any of these, will they become unclean?” And the priests answered, saying, “They will become unclean.”
14 Then Haggai said, “So is this people, and so is this nation before Me,” declares YEHOWAH, “And so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer is unclean.
15 But now, please, consider in your heart from this day forward:  Before one stone was placed upon another in the temple of YEHOWAH,
16 from before those days, when one came to a heap of twenty, there would be only ten, and when one came to the wine vat to draw fifty measures, there would only be twenty.
17 I struck you with blasting winds, mildew and hail in all the labors of your hand, yet you did not return to Me,” declares YEHOWAH.
18 “So consider now, from this day forward; from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month; from the day when the foundation of the temple of YEHOWAH was laid; consider this in your heart:
19 Is the seed yet in the barn? Has the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate or the olive tree yet borne fruit? From this day forward I will bless you!”
20 And again the Word of YEHOWAH came to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, saying,
21 “Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Yehudah, saying, ‘I will shake the heavens and the earth,
22 and I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations, and I will overthrow the chariots and their riders, and the horses and their riders shall go down, every one by the sword of another.
23 On that day,’ declares YEHOWAH of hosts, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel, My servant, son of Shealtiel,’ declares YEHOWAH, ‘And I will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you,’” declares YEHOWAH of hosts.
