MICYEH:  CHAPTER 1

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 1

The Word of YEHOWAH that came to Micyeh of Morashite in the days of Yehtham, Ahaz and Hezekiyeh, kings of Yehudah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.
2 “Hear, all you people; listen, O earth, and all that is therein, and let Adonay, YEHOWAH, be a witness against you; Adonay from His holy temple.
3 For behold, YEHOWAH is coming forth from His place, and He will come down and tread upon the high places of the earth.
4 And the mountains will be molten under Him, and the valleys will be split like wax before the fire; like water poured down a steep place.
5 For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel.  What is the transgression of Jacob? Samaria!  And what are the high places of Yehudah? Are they not Jerusalem?
6 Therefore I will make Samaria as a heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard.  And I will pour down the stones of it into the valley, and will lay bare its foundations.
7 And all of the graven images of it will be broken to pieces, and all the harlotry of it will be burned with fire, and all the idols of it will I lay desolate, for she gathered the wages of a harlot, and they will return to the wages of a harlot.
8 Therefore I will lament and howl; I will go barefoot and naked; I will make a wailing like the jackals, and mourning like the owls,
9 for her wound is incurable, and it has come even unto Yehudah; it has reached unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.
10 Declare it not in Gath, weep not at all.  In Beth-le-aphrah roll yourself in the dust.
11 Pass away in shameful nakedness, you inhabitants of Shaphir.  The inhabitant of Zaanan did not come forth for the lamentation of Beth-ezel; ‘He will receive of you his standing.’
12 For the inhabitant of Maroth waited grievously for good, but evil came down from YEHOWAH to the gate of Jerusalem.
13 O inhabitant of Lachish, yoke the chariot to the swift beasts.  She was the beginning of sin to the daughter of Zion, for the transgressions of Israel were found in you.
14 Therefore you will give presents to Moresheth-Gath.  The house of Achzib will lie to the kings of Israel,
15 yet I will bring an heir unto you, O inhabitant of Mareshah.  And the glory of Israel will come even unto Adullam.
16 Make yourself bald and shave your hair for the delicate children; enlarge your baldness like the eagle, for they have gone naked from you.”

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 2

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 2

“Woe to those who conceive iniquity, and work evil on their beds!  When morning light comes, they do it, for it is in the power of their hands.
2 And they covet fields and take them by violence; and houses; and take them away.  They defraud people and their households, even stewards from their inheritance.
3 Therefore thus says YEHOWAH, ‘Behold, against these people I have devised an evil from which you cannot remove your necks; neither will you go haughtily, for this time is evil.
4 In that day they will take up a parable against you, and lament with a bitter lamentation, saying, “We are utterly destroyed.  He has exchanged the inheritance of my people; how He removes it from me!  To the heathen He has apportioned our fields.”
5 Therefore you will have no one casting forth a measuring line for you by lot in the assembly of YEHOWAH.
6 “Prophesy not!” they say to those that prophesy.  Therefore they shall not prophesy to them, that disgrace will not be turned back.
7 O say to the house of Jacob, ‘Is The Spirit of YEHOWAH being grieved? Are these His doings? Do not My Words do good to those walking uprightly?
8 Even now My people rise up as an enemy.  You strip the mantle off with the garment from those that pass by securely; from those returned from war.
9 The women of My people you drive out from their pleasant houses, and from their children you have taken away My splendor forever.
10 Arise and depart, for this is not your place of rest.  Because it is polluted, it shall destroy; even with a painful destruction.
11 If anyone walking in the spirit of falsehood lies, saying, ‘I will prophesy unto you of wine and of strong drink,’ they shall even be the prophet of this people.
12 I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as sheep in the fold; like a flock in the midst of its pasture, and they will make a great noise because of the multitude of mankind.
13 The breaker goes up before them; they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and go out by it.  And their king goes on before them, with YEHOWAH at the head of them.”

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 3

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 3

And I said, “Hear now, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and you rulers of the house of Israel. Is it not for you to know justice?
2 You who hate good and love evil; who tear off their skin from off them and their flesh from their bones;
3 who also eat the flesh of my people, strip their skin from off them, break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot; and as flesh within the cauldron.
4 Then they will cry out to YEHOWAH, but He will not respond.  He will even hide His face from them at that time, because their works have been evil.”
5 Thus says YEHOWAH, “Concerning the prophets who lead the people astray; who bite with their teeth, and cry, ‘Peace!’  And concerning those that put nothing into their mouths, and who prepare war against them:
6 Surely it will be night for you – without revelation.  And it shall be utter darkness for you, that you shall not divine.  And the sun will set on the prophets, and the day will be black over them.
7 Then will the seers be ashamed and the diviners will be confounded.  Yes, they will all cover their mouths, because there is no answer from Elohim.
8 But truly I am full of power by The Spirit of YEHOWAH, and of judgment, and of might; to declare unto Jacob their transgression, and unto Israel their sin.
9 Hear this, I pray you, O heads of the house of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice and make crooked everything that is straight;
10 who repair Zion with bloodshed and Jerusalem with iniquity:
11 Your leaders judge for a bribe, and the priests teach for hire, and your prophets divine for money.  Yet they lean upon YEHOWAH and say, ‘Is not YEHOWAH in our midst? No evil can come upon us.’
12 Therefore, for your sake, Zion will be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps, and the mount of the temple as the high places of the forest.”

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 4

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 4

“But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mount of the temple of YEHOWAH will be established in the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills, and the peoples will flow into it.
2 And many nations will come and say, ‘Come and let us go up to the mountain of YEHOWAH, and to the house of the Elohim of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths.’  For the Law will go forth from Zion, and the Word of YEHOWAH from Jerusalem.
3 And He will judge among many people and rebuke mighty, distant nations.  And they will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks.  Nation will not lift up a sword against nation; neither shall they learn war any more.
4 But they shall sit each of them under their vine and under their fig tree, and nothing shall make them afraid.  For the mouth of YEHOWAH of hosts has spoken.
5 For all the peoples will walk in the Name of their Elohim; we will walk in the Name of YEHOWAH our Elohim forever and ever.
6 ‘In that day,’ says YEHOWAH, ‘I will assemble the lame and gather the outcast, and those that I have afflicted,
7 and I will make the lame a remnant, and the outcasts a strong nation.  And YEHOWAH will reign over them from Mount Zion, from now on and even forever.
8 And you, O tower of the flock; the stronghold of the daughter of Zion, unto you shall it come; even the first dominion.  The kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.
9 Now why do you cry out aloud? Is there no king among you? Has your counselor perished that pangs have overtaken you like a woman in childbirth?
10 Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion; like a woman in childbirth.  For now shall you go forth out of the city, and you shall dwell in the field, and go to Babylon, and there shall you be delivered.  There YEHOWAH will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.
11 But now many nations are assembled against you, that say, ‘Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.’
12 But they do not know the thoughts of YEHOWAH, nor do they understand His purpose, for He will gather them like sheaves to the threshing floor.
13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion, for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs brass.  And you will beat in pieces many people, and I will consecrate their gain unto YEHOWAH, and their substance unto Adonay of all the earth.”

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 5

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 5

Now muster your armies, O daughter of armies; they have laid siege against us.  They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek..
2 But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though little among the thousands of Yehudah. Out of you shall He come forth unto Me to be ruler in Israel; Whose goings forth have been from of old; from the days of eternity.
3 Therefore He will give them up, until the time when she that is in labor has brought forth.  Then the remnant of His brethren will return to the children of Israel.
4 And He will stand and feed in the strength of YEHOWAH, in the majesty of the Name of YEHOWAH His Elohim; and they will abide.  For then He will be great unto the ends of the earth.
5 And He will be our peace, when the Assyrian comes in to our land, and treads in our palaces.  Then shall we raise against them seven shepherds and eight leaders of men.
6 And those will spoil the land of Assyria with the sword; and the land of Nimrod at its gates, and He will deliver us from the Assyrian when he comes in to our land, and when he treads within our borders.
7 And the remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many people, like dew from YEHOWAH; like showers upon the grass that wait not for people, nor wait for the children of men.
8 And the remnant of Jacob will be among the nations in the midst of many people; like a lion among the beasts of the forest, and like a young lion among the flocks of sheep, which if it passes through, tramples down and tears into pieces; and there is none to rescue.
9 Your hand will be lifted up against your adversaries, and all your enemies will be cut off.
10 And it shall come to pass in that day,” declares YEHOWAH, “That I will cut off your horses from the midst of you, and I will destroy your chariots.
11 And I will cut off the cities of your land, and pull down all your strong holds.
12 And I will cut off witchcraft from your hand; and you will have sorcerers no more.
13 I will also destroy the graven images and the standing images in your midst, and you will no longer worship the work of your hands.
14 And I will pluck up the groves from out of your midst; and so I will destroy your cities.
15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations, like they have never heard.”

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 6

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 6

Hear now what YEHOWAH says, “Rise up, defend yourself before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.
2 Hear you, O mountains, YEHOWAH’S, contention, and you, O strong foundations of the earth; for YEHOWAH has a controversy with His people, and He will plead with Israel.
3 ‘O My people, what have I done to you? And how have I wearied you? Answer Me!
4 For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and delivered you from the house of slavery; and I sent before you Moses, Aaron and Miriam.
5 O My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam son of Beor answered him from Shittim and Gilgal; that you may know the righteousness of YEHOWAH.”
6 With what shall I come before YEHOWAH, and bow myself before Elohim on high? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings; with yearling calves?
7 Is YEHOWAH pleased with thousands of rams, or ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgressions; the fruit of my body for the sins of my soul?
8 He has told you, O mankind, what is good; and what YEHOWAH requires of you:  To do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your Elohim!
9 YEHOWAH’S voice cries to the city; and the wise will see Your Name, and hear Your correction; Your rod, and Who has appointed it.
10 Are there treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, or any short measures, which are abominable?
11 Shall I count as pure with wicked balances, and with a bag of deceitful weights?
12 For the rich of it are full of violence, and the inhabitants of it speak lies; and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
13 Therefore also, I will make you sick, striking you, and making you desolate because of your sins.
14 You will eat, but not be satisfied, and your hunger will be in your heart.  You will take hold, but you will not deliver; and that which you do deliver I will give up to the sword.
15 You will sow, but you will not reap.  You will tread the olives, but you will not anoint yourself with oil; and the grapes, but not drink the wine.
16 For the statutes of Omryeh are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab; and you walk in their counsel, that I should make you a desolation, and the inhabitants of it a hissing.  Therefore you will bear the reproach of My people.”

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 7

MICYEH:  CHAPTER 7

Woe is me! For I am like when they have gathered the summer fruit; or like the gleanings of the vintage.  Not a cluster remains to eat, and my soul desires the first ripe fruit.
2 The pious have perished out of the land, and there are no upright among mankind.  They all lie in wait for bloodshed; they hunt, each one, for their brethren, with a net,
3 that they may do evil with both hands earnestly; the ruler and the judge asking for a reward, and the great uttering their mischievous desires.  And thus they weave it together.
4 The best of them are like a briar, and the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge. The day you are watching for, and your visitation, nears, and then shall be your perplexity.
5 Trust not your friend; put not your confidence in a guide.  Keep the doors of your mouth from those that lie in your bosom.
6 For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a person’s enemies are the people of their own household.
7 Therefore, I will look unto YEHOWAH; I will wait for the Elohim of my deliverance.  My Elohim will hear me.
8 Rejoice not against me, O my enemies.  When I fall, I will rise up.  Though I sit in darkness, YEHOWAH will be a light unto me.
9 I will bear the indignation of YEHOWAH, because I have sinned against Him, until He pleads my cause and executes judgment for me.  He will bring me to the light, and I will behold His righteousness.
10 Then my enemy will see, and shame will cover those who said to me, “Where is YEHOWAH your Elohim?” My eyes will behold!  Now they will be trodden down as the mire of the streets.
11 The day that your walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be removed.
12 In that day they will come to you from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from fortress even to the river; and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.
13 And the earth will be desolate, because of those that dwell thereon, for the fruit of their doings.
14 Feed Your people with Your rod; the flock of Your inheritance, which dwells in solitary in the wood, in the midst of Carmel.  Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead as in the days of old.
15 According to the days of your coming out of the land of Egypt will I show unto them marvelous things.
16 Nations will see and be confounded by all their might.  They will put their hand on their mouth; their ears will be deaf.
17 They will lick the dust like a serpent; they will tremble from out of their holes, like worms of the earth.  They will be afraid of YEHOWAH our Elohim, and will shake because of You.
18 Who is an El like You that pardons iniquity, and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance; Who does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy?
19 He will again have compassion on us; He will subdue our iniquities, and will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
20 You will perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which You have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.”
