1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 1

1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 1

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked upon and touched with our hands concerning the Word of Life;
2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and bear witness, and declare unto you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested unto us;
3 what we have seen and heard we declare unto you also, so that you also may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach.
4 And these things we write unto you, so that your joy may be made complete.
5 This then is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you:  That Elohim is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in the darkness, we lie and accomplish not the truth,
7 but if we walk in the Light, as He is in the Light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.

1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 2

1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 2

My little children, I write these things unto you, so that you may not sin.  And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, the Righteous;
2 and He is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
3 And by this we know that we know Him:  If we keep His commandments.
4 The one who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in them,
5 but those who keep His Word, in them the love of Elohim is perfected.  By this we know that we are in Him,
6 for those who say they abide in Him, ought themselves to walk in the same manner as He walked.
7 Brethren, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which you have had from the beginning; and the old commandment is the Word which you have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I do write unto you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing, and the true Light already shines:
9 Those who say they are in the Light and yet hate their brother, are in the darkness until now.
10 The one who loves their brother abides in the Light, and there is no cause for stumbling in them.
11 But the one who hates their brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and does not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded their eyes.
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His Name’s sake.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because you have known Him Who has been from the beginning.  I write unto you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one.  I write unto you, little children, because you have known the Father.
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because you know Him Who has been from the beginning.  I have written unto you, young men, because you are strong, and the Word of Elohim abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
15 Love not the world, nor the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in them.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
17 And the world is passing away, and also the lusts of it.  But the one who does the will of Elohim lives forever.
18 Little children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that Messiah’s opponent is coming, even now are there many opponents of Messiah.  From this we know that it is the last hour.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us, for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out, so that it might be made manifest that they all are not of us.
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, that you may know all things.
21 I have not written unto you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but they who deny that YEHOSHUA is the Messiah? This is Messiah’s opponent, the one who denies the Father and the Son.
23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which you heard from the beginning.  If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that He Himself promised to us:  Eternal life!
26 These things I have written to you concerning those who deceive you.
27 But the anointing that you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
28 And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who does righteousness is born of Him.

1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 3

1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 3

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of Elohim.  Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
2 Beloved, now we are children of Elohim, and it has not yet appeared what we shall be.  We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies themselves, just as He is pure,
4 for everyone who commits sin also transgresses the law; for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins; for in Him is no sin.
6 Whoever abides in Him sins not.  Whoever sins has not seen Him, nor knows Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you; the one who does righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous;
8 the one who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil sinned from the beginning.  For this purpose the Son of Elohim was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whoever is born of Elohim does not commit sin, for His seed abides in them, and they cannot sin, because they are born of Elohim.
10 In this are manifest the children of Elohim, and the children of the devil:  Whoever does not righteousness is not of Elohim; neither are they who love not their brother.
11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning:  That we should love one another;
12 not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother.  And why did he slay him? Because his works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hates you.
14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. They who do not love abide in death.
15 Whoever hates their brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in them.
16 By this we know love:  That He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren,
17 but whoever has the world’s goods, and sees their brother in need, and closes their heart against him, how does the love of Elohim abide in them?
18 My little children, let us not love with word, or with tongue, but in work and in truth.
19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and will assure our hearts before Him,
20 for if our heart condemns us, Elohim is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward Elohim,
22 and whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments, and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.
23 And this is His commandment:  That we believe in the Name of His Son YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach, and love one another, just as He commanded us.
24 Those who keep His commandments abide in Him, and He in them.  We know by this that He abides in us; by The Spirit Whom He has given us.

1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 4

1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 4

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from Elohim, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 By this you know The Spirit of Elohim:  Every Spirit that confesses that YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach has come in the flesh is from Elohim,
3 and every spirit that does not confess YEHOSHUA is not from Elohim; this is the spirit of the opponent of Messiah, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now already it is in the world.
4 You are from Elohim, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world, therefore they speak as of the world; and the world listens to them.
6 We are of Elohim.  Those who know Elohim listen to us; those who are not of Elohim do not listen to us.  By this we know The Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of Elohim, and everyone who loves is born of Elohim, and knows Elohim.
8 Those who do not love, do not know Elohim, for Elohim is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of Elohim to us:  In that Elohim sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
10 In this is love, not that we loved Elohim, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if Elohim so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12 No one has seen Elohim at any time.  If we love one another, Elohim abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.
13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
14 And we have seen and testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Deliverer of the world.
15 Whoever confesses that YEHOSHUA is the Son of Elohim, Elohim abides in them, and they in Elohim.
16 And we have known and believed the love that Elohim has for us.  Elohim is love, and those who abide in love abide in Elohim, and Elohim abides in them.
17 By this is our love made perfect:  That we may have confidence in the Day of Judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear holds punishment, and those who fear are not perfected in love.
19 We love Him, because He first loved us.
20 If someone says, “I love Elohim,” and hates their brother, they are a liar, for the one who does not love their brother, whom they have seen, cannot love Elohim, Whom they have not seen.
21 And this commandment we have from Him:  That those who love Elohim should love their brother also.

1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 5

1 JOHN:  CHAPTER 5

Whoever believes that YEHOSHUA is the Messiah is born of Elohim, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of Elohim:  When we love Elohim and keep His commandments.
3 For this is the love of Elohim, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
4 For whatever is born of Elohim overcomes the world, and this is the victory that has overcome the world:  Our faith.
5 Who are they that overcome the world, but those who believe that YEHOSHUA is the Son of Elohim?
6 This is He Who came by water and blood, YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach; not by water only, but by water and by blood.  It is The Spirit Who testifies, because The Spirit is The Truth.
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven:  The Father, The Word, and The Holy Spirit, and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in the earth:  The Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree in one.
9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of Elohim is greater, for this is the testimony of Elohim, which He has testified of His Son.
10 Those who believe on the Son of Elohim have the testimony in themselves.  Those who do not believe Elohim have made Him a liar, because they have not believed in the testimony that Elohim has given concerning His Son.
11 And this is the testimony that Elohim has given us:  Eternal life.  And this life is in His Son.
12 Those that have the Son have the life.  Those that do not have the Son of Elohim do not have the life.
13 These things I have written to you who believe on the Name of the Son of Elohim, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
14 And this is the confidence that we have in Him:  That if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us,
15 and if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desire of Him.
16 If anyone sees their brother committing a sin not leading to death, they shall ask and Elohim will for them give life to those who commit sin not leading to death.  There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that they should make request for this.
17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not unto death.
18 We know that whoever is born of Elohim sins not, but He Who was begotten of Elohim keeps them, and the evil one does not touch them.
19 We know that we are of Elohim, and that the whole world lies in evil.
20 And we know that the Son of Elohim has come, and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him Who is true.  And we are in Him Who is true; in His Son YEHOSHUA ha Mashiach.  This is the true Elohim and eternal life.
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.  Amen!
